How to Verify if a Packers and Movers Company is Genuine or Fraud?

Search the company name on Google Maps. Look for photo reviews (real customers post photos of trucks, staff). Text-only 5-star reviews with no content = suspicious. Minimum 20+ reviews needed.

Ask for their GST number and verify at services.gst.gov.in. Any company with turnover above ₹20L must have GST. No GST = they may be operating illegally or are a one-man fraud.

Visit the office physically, or at minimum do a video call showing their facility, trucks, and staff. Fraud operators work from mobile numbers only and have no verifiable office address.

Never accept verbal quotes. Demand a written quotation showing: item list, packing charges, transport charges, loading/unloading charges, insurance, and total. Frauds give low verbal quotes then demand more money after loading your goods.

Genuine movers take 20–30% token advance. If anyone asks for 60%, 80%, or 100% advance before the move — it's a major red flag. The "goods hostage" scam always starts with full advance payment.
