What Documents Are Needed Before Booking Packers and Movers?

Documents to Get FROM the Company

1. Written Quotation (Before Loading)
   Must show itemized charges: packing + transport + loading/unloading + insurance + GST separately. Never accept verbal quotes.
2. GST Invoice / Tax Invoice
   Must have company's GST number. 18% GST applies on packers movers services. Keep for expense reimbursement from employer.
3. Lorry Receipt / Goods Receipt (GR Copy)
   This is your proof of delivery. Lists all goods handed over. Get a copy BEFORE the truck leaves. This is the most important document.
4. Transit Insurance Policy
   If you opt for insurance, get the policy number and insurer's contact. Know the claim process before signing.
5. Driver's Name & Truck Number
   Note the truck registration number and driver's mobile number before goods are loaded. This lets you track your goods in transit.

Documents to Keep READY from Your Side

• ID Proof: Aadhaar Card / PAN Card (needed to sign lorry receipt)
• Society / Building NOC: Many apartments require a "No Objection Certificate" for shifting. Get this from your housing society secretary 3-4 days in advance
• Lift Booking Confirmation: If goods elevator needs advance booking — get written confirmation from society
• New Address Proof: Rental agreement of new house — driver may need to verify delivery address
• List of High-Value Items: Prepare a written inventory of expensive items (with photos) before movers arrive

For Interstate Moves — Additional Requirements

• E-Way Bill: Mandatory for goods worth above ₹50,000 being transported across state borders. Your movers handle this, but confirm they have it before loading
