Society move-in or move-out fees are paid directly to your apartment association. Confirm whether these are payable directly, and the amount differs from one society to another, so ask your facility manager in advance.

If you have only a few items, say a bachelor setup with a bed, fridge, washing machine and 10–15 cartons, a shared or part-load truck may cost less than reserving the whole vehicle. How We Pack the Things People Worry About Most

Refrigerator

Switch it off and defrost it the night before so the water drains out. We wrap it in foam and stretch film, tape the doors shut and keep it upright in the truck. At the new house, keep it upright and follow the manufacturer's settling time before switching it on.

Washing machine

Drain the water from the drum and pipes a day earlier. If you still have the transit bolts that came with the machine, keep them ready because they lock the drum and prevent damage on bumpy roads.

LED TV

The original box is best. If you don't have it, we use foam corner guards, a corrugated sheet on the screen side and a carton cut to size. TVs always travel standing, never flat.

Glass dining tops, mirrors and marble items

For local moves, the protection depends on the item, its weight and the handling route. For intercity moves, we suggest a wooden crate, which is charged separately and is worth it for anything that cannot be replaced easily.

Pooja room items and idols

We pack them separately in a marked box and load them last so they come out first at the new house. If you would like to carry the main idols yourself, we will pack them in a small box for you.

Plants

Declare potted plants before a local Bangalore shift and ask for written acceptance, securing and handling arrangements. For long intercity routes like Delhi or Kolkata, a closed container is unsuitable for many plants. Check a separate transport arrangement or leave them with someone who can care for them.

Truck entry timings inside the city

Heavy-goods vehicle movement is restricted on parts of Bengaluru during busy periods. The permitted window depends on the vehicle, corridor and current traffic notification. Fix the packing start separately from the truck departure: a crew may pack inside the flat while the larger vehicle waits for an allowed slot. For a small local load, compare a mini truck with a larger container rather than assuming both can follow the same route.

Flyovers and elevated roads

Do not assume a goods vehicle can use the same elevated road as your car. For an Electronic City or Hosur Road pickup, confirm the permitted surface-road approach and loading gate; for an ORR address, share the correct service-road side and nearby U-turn. Give the driver the society gate pin as well as the flat address, so a missed entrance does not turn into another long loop.

Apartment and gated society rules

Almost every gated community in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, Hebbal and Electronic City has its own moving rules. Allowed days, lift slots and truck entry rules differ by association; check both buildings before choosing a date. You may also need a move-out NOC from the owner or a gate pass from the association, and a few societies take a refundable deposit for lift damage. Narrow roads in older areas

In parts of Malleshwaram, Basavanagudi, Shivajinagar, Frazer Town and Chickpet, a 17 ft or 19 ft truck simply cannot enter the cross road. In such cases we park the big truck on the main road and shuttle goods in a Tata Ace, or the crew carries them. We tell you this at the survey stage so the quote doesn't change later.

Rain during shifting

Bangalore gets the southwest monsoon from June to September and another spell of heavy rain in October and November. During these months we wrap mattresses, sofas and wooden furniture in plastic before stretch film, carry tarpaulin on every truck and keep cartons off wet basement floors. If it is pouring heavily, we will pause loading for some time rather than let your goods get soaked.

Month-end rush

Most rent agreements in Bangalore start or end around the 1st, so the last few days and the first few days of every month are the busiest. Rates are higher, and good crews get booked fast. If your dates are flexible, compare a mid-month weekday with the month-end date before fixing the booking.

Keep documents and anything you need during the stay with you; retrieving one carton from a packed lot may require additional handling.

Six Things to Check Before You Book Any Packers in Bangalore

1. Visit or video-verify the office. Check the address and the name of the business that will actually handle your goods.
2. Check the business identity. Where GST registration is claimed, verify the GSTIN and legal/trade-name relationship on the official portal. A registration alone does not prove service quality, and lawful unregistered status alone does not establish fraud.
3. Get an itemised written quote. Packing, labour, transport, floor charges and GST should be shown separately. A lump-sum message is difficult to compare unless the included work and exclusions are also listed.
4. Collect the LR at loading. The lorry receipt is your proof that the goods were handed over. Don't let the truck leave without it.
5. Agree payment stages before paying. Check the amount, payee and cancellation/rescheduling terms, and keep receipts. No single advance percentage proves that a mover is genuine.
6. Read recent reviews with photos. Look at Google reviews from the last 3–4 months, not just the star rating. Notice how the company replies to complaints.

If Something Gets Damaged: How Claims Work

Packing and handling reduce risks but do not eliminate them. Keep a condition and package-count record so damage or shortage can be reported precisely.

• Record the condition before loading. Photograph valuable furniture and appliances and keep the signed inventory with your quotation.
• Check cover before dispatch. Ask about the actual policy, covered stages, declared value, premium, exclusions, deductible and evidence. Acceptance for transport and a declared value do not by themselves create insurance or establish a payout.
