Bangalore to Mumbai shifting charges: an honest planning guide
Start with a room-by-room list or video survey, then compare the mode and work included in each estimate. These household planning bands help organise a budget; final capacity, packing, both-end access and the selected carrier determine the dated quote. A furnished rental with just a bed and cartons is a different load from a family home with solid-wood furniture, a full kitchen and a home office.

Scope matters: identify the packing, loading, transport, unloading and assembly covered for the surveyed inventory. A table’s upper amount does not automatically reserve an exclusive truck. Compare optional work, any access transfer, applicable GST, toll inclusion and selected cover on the same basis.
Shared part load and dedicated truck bands
You may see smaller and larger numbers for the same BHK size. That is because the mode changes the cost basis:
- Shared part load: a light 1BHK that fits a shared slot often works out around ₹8,000 – ₹12,000. You pay for the space your goods take, but you wait longer and share the vehicle.
- Dedicated truck: when you book the whole vehicle, a 2BHK typically sits around ₹22,000 – ₹30,000 and a 3BHK around ₹32,000 – ₹45,000.
These bands are not separate promises. Which one applies is decided after your goods are listed and the volume is estimated. If your "1BHK" turns out to need most of a truck, it will not be priced like a part load.

Few-item moves and office relocations are priced after a survey or a detailed list, because a "few items" booking can mean six cartons or a sofa, a fridge and a bed.
What pushes the cost up or down
- Measured volume, not BHK: the single biggest factor. A proper list or video survey prevents surprises on loading day.
- Mode: shared part load costs less but takes longer; a dedicated truck costs more but goes straight to your address.
- Packing grade: standard cartons and wrapping versus extra layers or wooden crating for fragile pieces.
- Floors and lifts at both ends: a third-floor walk-up in Bangalore and a building with a small goods lift in Mumbai both add labour time.
- Where the truck can stop: if the vehicle has to park far from your gate, carrying time goes up, and in some buildings a smaller shuttle vehicle is needed.
- Your dates: month-end and weekend dates are in higher demand. If your dates are flexible, tell us – it helps with both price and availability.
- Extras: holding goods if your flat is not ready, unpacking, reassembly beyond basic beds, and optional transit cover.
What your written quote should spell out
Whether you book with us or someone else, compare quotes only after checking that each one covers the same things. Ask for these in writing:
- Exact pickup address and exact delivery address – Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai named, not just "Mumbai".
- Mode: shared part load or dedicated vehicle, and the expected transit window.
- Packing materials, labour at both ends, loading and unloading.
- Whether tolls and driver expenses are included in the transport charge.

Bangalore to Mumbai distance, route and realistic delivery time
City-to-city distance vs gate-to-gate distance
A map check for driving between the two cities shows about 980 km on the NH48 route, with alternatives around 1,006 km via NH50 and 1,022 km on an NH48/NH66 combination. Your actual distance depends on your Bangalore pickup point (Yelahanka and Electronic City are on opposite sides of the city) and your Mumbai-side address, plus whichever corridor trucks are permitted to use on that date. That is why we plan with 980–1,050 km rather than one figure.
The car driving time you see on a map – roughly 16 to 17 hours – is not a household transit time. A goods truck runs slower, the driver needs rest, heavy vehicles face timing and road restrictions in parts of the city, and delivery has to fit your building's slot.
How the delivery timeline is actually counted
When a mover says "3–4 days", ask what day they are counting from. The full move has separate stages:
- Survey and quote: a home visit or video call to list items, check access and agree the scope.
- Packing and loading day: most 1BHK and 2BHK homes are packed and loaded in one working day; larger homes or homes with crating can take longer.
- Consolidation (shared load only): waiting for the vehicle to be ready with other consignments.
- Road transit: the indicative 3–4 days (dedicated) or 5–7 days (shared) is counted from dispatch, not from the day we came to pack.
- City entry and delivery slot: the vehicle is moved to your address in line with permitted timings and your building's slot.
- Unloading and setup: unloading, basic reassembly and any unpacking you have booked.
These are planning stages, not fixed trip timings. Weather, road conditions and permissions on your actual dates are checked before we give you a delivery window.
Ghats, rain and truck movement on the route
For the assigned corridor and dates, confirm current road work, permitted goods-vehicle approaches, weather alerts and the Mumbai-side receiving slot. Rain can affect roadside stops and the final unloading route as well as highway progress. Agree suitable load restraint, covered handling and a dry staging area; toll inclusion and any route change should be recorded in the estimate.
Mumbai, Thane or Navi Mumbai: name the exact delivery point
For a Bangalore family, "Mumbai" often means Thane or Navi Mumbai. For a mover, these are different delivery jobs with different distances, roads and building types. Make sure your quote names the exact locality and building, and tell us early if the address may change.

Society rules, lift size and time slot
Rules differ from building to building, so do not go by what a friend's society asked for. A few days before the move, please check with your Mumbai building office or secretary:
- Do they need a move-in form, a permission letter or a copy of your rent or sale agreement?
- Is there any refundable deposit, and how is it returned?
- Which days and hours are allowed for shifting, and is the goods lift booked separately?
- Inside size of the goods lift – door width, cabin depth and height. A tape measure and a phone photo is enough.
- Where exactly can the truck stop, and how far is that from your tower entrance?
Share these answers with us before dispatch. If a large wardrobe or sofa will not fit the lift, we would rather know in Bangalore, where it can be dismantled further or planned for the staircase, than find out at your door.
When a shuttle vehicle is needed and how it is charged
If the main truck cannot reach your gate, goods are moved from the stopping point to the building in a smaller vehicle, sometimes in more than one trip. If this is clear from the survey, it is quoted in advance. The charge is based on the distance between the stopping point and your building, the number of trips and any extra labour – not a fixed add-on. If building rules or road access change on the day, we discuss it with you before doing the extra work.
Rainy-day handover
Monsoon deliveries need a little planning from your side too. Ask the society if goods can be kept in a covered porch, stilt parking or lobby while unloading. On our side, cartons and furniture are covered with plastic sheets during unloading, we pause in a heavy spell rather than rushing items through the rain, and electronics are kept off wet floors. Plastic covering reduces water exposure but nothing makes household goods fully waterproof, so a dry staging spot matters.

Glass showcases, marble table tops, framed art, antiques, large screens and pianos are not priced from a standard table. We look at size, weight, how the item comes apart and how it will get out of your Bangalore flat and into the Mumbai one. Some pieces need a wooden crate, some need extra hands on the staircase, and a few may need specialist handling we will tell you about honestly. You get the recommendation and its cost in the quote before anything is packed.
Dismantling, hardware bags and reassembly
Beds, wardrobes, study tables and dining tables are photographed before dismantling, so it is clear how they go back together. Screws, bolts and fittings go into a sealed bag linked to the item number, without adhesive on finished surfaces. At the Mumbai end, the items listed in your quote are reassembled. If you want curtain rods, wall-mounted TVs or lights put up, please mention it at survey stage – some of this needs an electrician or carpenter, and we will tell you what can be arranged and how it is charged.
First-day and work-from-home essentials box
Many people moving to Mumbai have to log in within a day or two of arriving. Pack one carton – or better, a suitcase that travels with you – with:
- Laptop, charger, headphones, a power strip and your router if you are carrying it
- Medicines, ID documents, rent agreement and a copy of the moving inventory
- A bedsheet, pillow and towel for each person
- Basic kitchen kit: a pan, two plates, cups, kettle or induction plate
- Toiletries, a small toolkit, phone chargers and a torch
Mark the essentials carton clearly. It is loaded last and unloaded first.
Few items, furnished rentals and part shifting
Not every Bangalore to Mumbai move is a full house. If you are moving out of a furnished rental, walk through the flat and separate what is yours from what belongs to the owner before the packing team arrives – it saves arguments and wrongly packed fans. If you have already moved and only need to send boxes, a bike or a couple of furniture pieces, share a list with rough sizes or photos. If your Mumbai flat is not ready
If possession, painting or a previous tenancy may change your receiving date, compare rescheduling with any available holding arrangement before dispatch. Office and IT relocation to BKC, Andheri East, Lower Parel and Navi Mumbai
Teams moving from Electronic City, Whitefield or the Outer Ring Road to Mumbai often look for "office relocation to BKC", but the same planning applies to Andheri East, Lower Parel and the Airoli–Vashi belt in Navi Mumbai. An office move is surveyed and quoted separately, because two offices with the same headcount can have very different equipment and building rules.
Data, backups and authorised hand-over
Your IT team owns the data. Before we disconnect anything, your team should confirm backups are complete and verified, and shut down servers, storage and network equipment as per your own process. We pack and move the hardware; we do not access or handle your data. Name one authorised person at each end who signs for the equipment going out of Bangalore and coming into Mumbai, with serial numbers on the hand-over list.
Department and seat labels
Every monitor, CPU, chair, pedestal and box gets a label with department and seat code from your new floor plan. At the Mumbai end, items go straight to the right floor and bay, which reduces avoidable sorting. Share the new floor plan before packing starts.

Company equipment and furniture move as business goods, with the paperwork your finance team confirms is applicable. If employees are also relocating their homes, each household should be a separate consignment with its own inventory and documents – do not mix personal goods into the office load.
Confidential Files and Workstation Handover
Separate physical files by department and access authority; use a numbered seal or package record where appropriate and name the authorised custodian at both ends. Keep passwords, recovery keys and sensitive portable data under the company’s control. Photograph hardware condition and record serial numbers, cables, monitor arms and ergonomic-chair parts without recording confidential document contents.
Agree the last working session, owner-authorised shutdown, packing sequence, receiving bay and restart checks with the IT team. The transport plan should leave time for their network, power and backup checks before employees rely on the new workstations.
BKC receiving checklist

Furniture and Appliance Setup After Mumbai Delivery
Keep rooms and access paths ready before unloading. Place and assemble the beds first, then wardrobes and desks, using the labelled fittings record. Confirm which dismantling, reassembly and unpacking tasks are included; wall-fixed or modular units need their own assessment.
AC installation, RO connection, TV mounting, curtains and light fittings may need separate technical appointments and building permission. Record item count, wall/power/water/drainage requirements, technician availability and any assessed fittings or material. Book the work against the actual delivery window and follow appliance restart instructions.

Driving your own car about 1,000 km is possible, but for many people the time off, fuel, tolls and fatigue make it less attractive than shipping it. Condition record and documents
- Before loading, the vehicle is photographed from all sides with existing scratches and dents noted on the condition sheet, along with the odometer reading. You keep a copy.
- The same sheet is checked with you at delivery.
- Keep copies of the RC and insurance, and an ID of the owner, ready. The carrier may ask for additional documents depending on the vehicle.

Confirm the actual car or bike carrier arrangement, collection/drop legs and expected arrival independently of the household consignment. If an assessed bike-with-household arrangement is offered, record its packing, securing and handling scope rather than assuming every two-wheeler moves on a separate carrier. Keep a backup commute plan for the arrival window.
Documents for the move: household goods vs business goods
There is a lot of confusion online about e-way bills for house shifting. Used personal and household effects are generally covered by an exemption under the GST e-way bill rules, so a normal family move is not treated like a commercial shipment. Keep these handy anyway:
- A copy of the packed inventory list
- ID proof and address proof for the Bangalore and Mumbai addresses
- A self-declaration that the goods are your used personal household items, if asked
Business goods are different. Office equipment, stock and new goods move with the invoice, delivery challan or e-way bill that applies to that consignment. Please get your accountant or finance team to confirm the right documents for your company's move.
Transit cover, tracking and damage reporting
Transit cover is optional. If you want it, ask for the policy terms in writing: the declared value you are covering, what is excluded, the premium shown separately and the claim procedure with timelines. Declare values item-wise for expensive pieces so there is no confusion later.

At delivery, please check before you sign:
- Count cartons and items against the inventory list.
- Open and check fragile and high-value items while the crew is still there.
- If anything is damaged or missing, write it on the delivery receipt before signing and take clear photos.
- Report it to us in writing with your docket number and photos within the time stated in your cover terms.
Items to keep out of the truck
- Carry with you: cash, jewellery, passports, property papers, certificates, daily medicines, laptops and hard drives with work data.
- Do not load: filled gas cylinders, petrol or diesel cans, acids, paint thinners, firecrackers or anything flammable.
- Food: open packets and perishables should be finished or given away before moving day.
- Pets and plants: pets do not travel in a goods vehicle. Use a specialist pet relocation service or travel with your pet. Plants find a multi-day closed truck hard; small hardy pots may be considered after assessment, but it is often kinder to give them to a neighbour.
