How Your Exact Address in Malleshwaram Changes the Plan
"Malleshwaram" on a booking form tells us very little. What we actually need is your main, cross, door number and pin code, and the same details for the drop address. Two houses five minutes apart can need completely different arrangements.
Mains, crosses and where the loaded truck can actually stop
Malleshwaram is laid out as a grid of mains and crosses, with Malleswaram West continuing beyond the original layout. Some crosses take a 14 ft truck without trouble. Others are fine for an empty truck but tight once it is loaded and sitting lower, or have cars parked on both sides through the day. We do not assume every cross is narrow, and we do not assume every cross is easy.
Before moving day we check, on a video call or a quick visit, where the vehicle can legally stand, how far the gate is from that point, and whether a smaller vehicle needs to shuttle goods to the main truck. A shuttle adds a few trips and some labour, but it is often cheaper than paying four people to carry a sofa 150 metres.

Market frontage on Sampige Road, Margosa Road and 8th Cross
Houses and shops that face the busy market stretches have a different problem: loading space. On a weekday evening or a festival weekend, a truck that stops for two hours outside a jewellery shop or a flower stall is not going to be welcome, and it may not be allowed. Traffic rules and timings on these roads can also change.
So for frontage addresses we usually plan an early start or a slot when the shops nearby are quieter, keep the vehicle for the shortest possible time, and have the goods staged near the door in advance. We will tell you the timing we suggest for your address, but we will not promise that any road is open to trucks at a fixed hour. That depends on current traffic police rules on that day.
Old independent houses versus newer apartment buildings
Older independent houses tend to have more furniture, heavier furniture, lofts full of things nobody has opened in years, and steep stairs to a first-floor portion. Newer apartment buildings around Malleshwaram usually have a lift, but they come with society rules: move-in timings, a lift booking, sometimes a deposit, and a watchman who wants a gate pass.

Moving From a Big Old House Into a Smaller Flat
A move from a long-occupied house into a smaller flat needs decisions before packing begins. The usual mistake is packing everything, loading everything and then discovering on the other side that the dining table, two almirahs and the diwan cot have nowhere to go.
Measure the new place before anything is packed
- Get the room sizes of the new flat, the lift door and lift car size, and the width of the main door and bedroom doors.
- Measure your big pieces: almirahs, cots, sofa, dining table, showcase, fridge, piano or harmonium cabinet if any.
- Draw a rough plan, even on paper, of what goes in which room. Give one copy to us so the crew can place furniture straight into the right room.
- Anything that will not fit the lift or the turn should be marked for dismantling before the day, not decided on the staircase.
Keep, sell, give to family – sort it before moving day
Make three lists: going to the new flat, going to a family member's house, and being sold or donated. If a son or daughter in another part of Bangalore is taking the old teak cot, that can be a second drop on the same day or a separate small trip. Telling us this at the survey stage is much cheaper than reloading on the day.
Heavy items that stay behind for some time (for example a house that is being handed over in stages) can be scheduled as a separate smaller trip later. We will quote that separately so nothing is hidden inside the first bill.
When parents are the ones receiving the move
Often the children are working outside and the parents are the ones at the new flat on moving day. In that case we plan the unloading so that one room becomes usable first: the bed set up, a chair, the box with daily medicines, spectacles, phone chargers and a few clothes, the kitchen box with the stove-side basics, and a clear walking path from the main door to the bathroom with no cartons in the way.

Puja Items, Silver, Brass, Old Wooden Furniture and Instruments

Shops, Clinics and Offices: Market Side vs Inside a Cross
A small office on a residential cross and a shop on the market road need very different timing. Before we quote, we ask:
- What is moving? Stock, display fixtures, files, computers, a reception desk. Shop stock and fixtures are packed and listed differently from office files and IT equipment.
- Who owns it? Leased printers, rented furniture or landlord-owned fittings should not go in our truck without written clearance from the owner.
- Where can we load? For a market-front shop, we plan a slot that does not block your neighbours' entrances. For an office inside a cross, we check the building's own rules and lift.
- What needs a technician? Fixed counters, wall-mounted displays, network racks or any clinic equipment need someone qualified to disconnect and refit them. We can arrange carpentry and basic electrical help where it is in scope; specialised medical equipment needs the supplier's own technician.
We do not move gas cylinders, chemicals, cold-chain medicines or clinical waste. We also do not promise "zero downtime". What we can do is plan an evening or early start so your shop or office is closed for the least possible time.
Students, PGs and the IISc Address Question
A lot of students and researchers live in PGs and rented rooms around Malleshwaram because it is close to the Indian Institute of Science. Two things are worth knowing.
The campus and your room are two different addresses. IISc's official mailing address uses pin 560012. Your PG or rented room nearby has its own main, cross, building and pin, and that is the address we need for pickup.

The same 2BHK from a flat with a lift and a truck parked at the gate would come close to the base subtotal alone. That difference is why a phone quote without seeing the house is usually wrong.

When someone says "it will reach in two days", ask which clock they mean. An intercity move has four:

Good packing reduces the chance of damage, but no mover can honestly say nothing will ever happen. What protects you is paperwork that is done properly:
- Condition record: before loading, note scratches, cracks and working condition of furniture and appliances, with photos of valuable items.
- Declared value: if you take transit cover, the cover is linked to the value you declare. Ask what cover is available for your move, what it costs, what is excluded and how a claim is made. Get this in writing with the quote.
- At delivery: open and check fragile cartons and furniture before signing. Write any damage on the delivery receipt, take photos and notify the booking contact promptly.
If a problem is discovered during later unpacking, report it promptly and retain the packing, photographs and documents under the actual policy’s notice and claim requirements. Cover is not automatic for every move, and its terms depend on the policy available at that time. Please do not sign off a delivery as "received in good condition" if you have not checked.
Storage Between Two Homes
Sometimes the old house has to be handed over before the new flat is ready, or the interiors are still being done. If you need your goods kept for a few days or weeks, ask us about storage when you ask for the quote. Check four things: how goods go in and come out, whether you can access them in between, how they are kept dry, and what the redelivery to your new address will cost.
