Shifting out of Jayanagar is rarely a simple load-and-go job. A lot of homes here have been lived in for twenty or thirty years. There is teak furniture that took four people to carry in, a puja room full of brass, cupboards of old papers nobody has sorted, and parents who would rather not watch the whole house being turned upside down for a week.
Then there are tenants in the newer apartment buildings, students and working people moving out of a PG with a few bags and a mattress, and shop owners around 4th Block and 3rd Block who cannot afford to lose more than a day of business. Each of these is a different job, and it should be quoted as one.
This page explains what we need to know before quoting, how access works in different parts of Jayanagar, what local and intercity shifting realistically costs, and where extra charges usually come from. Use it to compare quotes properly, whether you finally book with us or someone else.
Jayanagar Moving Cost Calculator
Choose a listed destination and inventory category. Local figures are budgeting examples; intercity bands follow the route guides linked below. The actual quote needs your inventory and both entrances.
Your planning guide
Confirm packing, loading, unloading, floors/lift, carrying distance, vehicle/mode, toll treatment, applicable tax, selected cover and optional work in the dated quote. Volume choices do not apply an automatic multiplier. Vehicle acceptance and schedules are assessed separately.
Before We Quote: Your Full Jayanagar Address Matters
"Jayanagar, Bangalore" on its own tells a mover very little. Two houses in the same block can be completely different jobs — one has a wide gate opening onto a main road, the other sits at the end of a cross road with a low tree branch and a tight turn. So when you call or WhatsApp us, please share these details for both the pickup and the delivery address:
Where exactly
- Block number (1st to 9th), and the sub-block if it is part of your address — for example 4th T Block or 3rd Block East
- Main road and cross number
- House or building name, flat number and floor
- PIN code — Jayanagar has more than one, so please don't assume
How goods will come out
- Which gate the building allows for goods, and whether a vehicle can enter or must stop outside
- Lift or no lift; if there is one, can a sofa or fridge fit inside it
- Staircase width and any sharp turns
- Rough walking distance from where a vehicle can stop to your door
Building rules
- Shifting hours allowed by the association or owner
- Lift booking, deposit or worker list needed at the security desk
- Same details from the new building — both sides have to say yes on the same day
A shop address in the 4th Block shopping complex area and a house a few cross roads away may both say "4th Block", but the stopping space, the crowd and the carrying distance are nothing alike. Even well-known landmarks get mixed up: Ragigudda temple gives its official address as 9th Block, 560069; that landmark should not replace your actual home or shop address. Landmarks like Ashoka Pillar, South End Circle or the 4th Block complex help our team find you. The gate, the floor and the stopping point are what decide the quote.
Our Packers and Movers Services in Jayanagar
Local house shifting
1RK, studio and 1BHK to 4BHK flats and independent houses, moving within Jayanagar or to any other part of Bengaluru. Crew size, vehicle and packing are worked out from your inventory, not from a fixed package.
Long-held family houses
Homes with decades of belongings, heavy wooden furniture and items that are going to different family members. We help you separate what goes, what stays and what leaves with someone else, before packing starts.
PG, hostel and few-item moves
A bed, a table, a fridge and some cartons. Assess a smaller vehicle and suitable handling help against the actual item dimensions, packing and access. Tell us the floor and whether there is a lift so the quote is right the first time.
Only labour
You arrange the vehicle, we send people to pack, carry and load. Useful when a relative's tempo or a company vehicle is already sorted. Scope is different from full service — see the comparison further down.
Shop and office shifting
Retail stock, display racks, small offices and clinics from Jayanagar's commercial streets. Planned around your last trading day, stock counts and IT shutdown.
Intercity relocation
From Jayanagar to Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi NCR and other cities, in a shared load or a dedicated vehicle.
Car and bike transport
Cars on a car carrier and bikes packed separately, either along with your household move or on their own. Vehicles usually travel on a separate leg from household goods.
Packing, unpacking and add-ons
Packing by item type, unpacking at the new home, and furniture dismantling and refitting. Carpenter, electrician and AC technician work is arranged through people qualified for that work, and is written into the quote so nothing is assumed.
Short-term storage
When the new house isn't ready or keys come late. Subject to space being available; location, access, cover and redelivery cost are confirmed in writing before you agree.
Moving Out of a Long-Held Jayanagar Family House
When a family leaves a house they have lived in for decades, the hardest part is not the packing. It is deciding. The old steel almirah — is it going to the new flat, staying for the new owner, or going to a cousin in Basavanagudi? If this isn't settled before the crew arrives, you end up deciding on the spot with eight people waiting, and things get loaded that should have stayed behind.
What works best is making three lists, room by room, a week or two before the shifting date.
List 1: Going to the new home
Everything that is coming with you. Mark each item with the room it should go to in the new house — "Amma's room", "kitchen", "study" — not just the room it came from. Use removable labels on the protective wrapping or carton, with a matching inventory code; do not put adhesive tape directly on finished furniture.
List 2: Staying with the property
Fittings and anything agreed with the buyer, the landlord or the next occupant — geyser, ceiling fans, curtain rods, fitted wardrobes, the owner's furniture if you were renting. A yellow sticker means "do not touch".
List 3: Leaving with someone else
Items being donated, sold, or collected by another family member. Keep these in one room if you can, and get them picked up before moving day so the house is lighter and less confusing on the day.
When the house belongs to more than one person: if siblings or other heirs share the property or its contents, each person should confirm the list for the things that concern them — record the required owner authority before including or releasing any item. Our crew packs what the family tells us to pack. We don't decide who owns what, and if two instructions clash on the day, we stop and ask rather than guess.
A sensible order for the last two weeks
- Finish the three lists and stick the labels.
- Get the donation and sale pickups done first, so the house empties out.
- Pack rarely used rooms and lofts early — old suitcases, festival items, books, extra vessels.
- Keep one room fully usable until the last day, especially if a parent is living there: bed, fan, light, a clear path to the bathroom.
- On moving day, the family keeps medicines, prescriptions, property documents, jewellery, cash, keys and a first-night bag. These do not go in the truck.
- After loading, walk through every room and the loft with us. Take photos of the electricity and water meter readings, check that gas and taps are closed, and hand over keys to the right person with a simple acknowledgement.
If your parents are receiving at the other end
Many Jayanagar moves are about getting parents settled into a smaller flat or closer to a son or daughter. If an elderly parent is receiving the goods, please give us two names and numbers: the main receiver and a backup who can come if the first person cannot. Ask us to set up their room first — agreed bed assembly completed, a clear route through the room, and essential bags within reach; arrange any electrical work separately through qualified help — before the rest of the cartons come in. They should not be lifting, climbing or standing for hours supervising. Room labels on every carton mean the crew can place things correctly without asking them each time.
Teak, Rosewood, Antiques and Hydraulic Beds: Decide Before Anyone Opens a Screw
Old Jayanagar homes often have pieces that were built inside the house or carried in decades ago — a carved teak diwan, a rosewood almirah, a heavy dining table with a marble top, brass lamps, a chandelier in the hall. Newer flats have hydraulic storage beds and modular wardrobes. These need different decisions, and the right decision depends on the actual piece, not on a standard rule.
Before anything is dismantled, we measure the piece, the door, the stair turns and the lift at both ends. If a piece fits whole, moving it whole is usually safer than taking it apart.
| Item | What to check first | Usual approach |
|---|---|---|
| Carved teak or rosewood almirah, diwan, dining set | Weight, type of finish (polish, lacquer, paint), whether joints are bolted or glued, door and stair measurements | Move whole if it fits. Remove doors and shelves only if they are made to come off. Soft first layer, then padding. |
| Old glued joinery or pieces repaired before | Loose joints, old repairs, cracks | Not dismantled as routine. Supported, carried upright, and crated only if an assessment says it is needed. |
| Hydraulic storage bed | Make and model, condition of the gas struts, contents of the storage box | Box emptied first. The lift mechanism is handled by a competent carpenter in the way that model is meant to come apart, because the struts are under pressure. |
| Modular wardrobe, study unit | Board type, cam locks, wall fixing | Dismantled where designed to be. Panels numbered, photographed, hardware bagged and labelled. |
| Chandelier, brass hanging lamps | Wiring, number of glass or crystal pieces | Taken down by an electrician. Glass pieces packed separately, with photos for reassembly. |
| Marble or granite table top, glass top | Thickness, size, how it is fixed | Assess how the top is fixed and whether safe removal is possible. Use suitable supports, cushioning and orientation for its construction and dimensions, with specialist advice for heavy or fragile pieces. |
| Antique clock, piano, high-value heirloom | Moving parts, value, maker's guidance | Specialist advice where needed. Declare the value if you are taking transit cover. |
About "layers" of packing: you will see movers promise a fixed 3-layer or 5-layer pack for every antique. The number of layers is less important than what touches the surface. Stretch film or tape put directly on polished wood can mark the finish, especially in heat. The first layer should be something that does not stick — a blanket, sheet or paper — with padding and film only on top of that. Some pieces need corner guards and a blanket; a fragile carved piece may need a crate. We decide per item.
Keep screws, bolts and fittings in labelled bags with the matching item or in a listed hardware box, without adhesive tape on finished surfaces. Photos are taken before dismantling so the piece goes back together the way it came apart.
Access, Parking and Timing in Jayanagar
Jayanagar's roads are wider and better planned than in many parts of Bengaluru, and the tree cover is one of the reasons people love living here. On shifting day, though, a wide road is not the same as a place to park, and a beautiful canopy can mean a low branch right where the truck needs to stop.
Stopping the vehicle
The vehicle has to stop where it is allowed to, without blocking a neighbour's gate, a bus stop or the traffic. That sometimes means stopping a little away and carrying goods a longer distance. We plan for that in the quote instead of surprising you with it on the day.
Trees, cables and turns
Low branches, overhead cables, tight turns into cross roads and narrow gates can stop a taller vehicle from coming close. For such addresses we look at a smaller vehicle, a longer carry, or a shuttle from a bigger truck parked on the main road.
Both buildings, same day
Apartment associations set their own shifting hours, lift booking and security rules. The old building and the new one both need to agree to the same slot. Please get both confirmations in writing a few days before.
Rain on the day
Bengaluru can pour in the evening without warning, more so in the monsoon months. We keep a dry staging spot inside the gate or the parking area, plastic sheet on floors, and tarpaulin for the vehicle. Cartons should not wait on the footpath.
What time should the move start?
There is no single right answer for all of Jayanagar, and we would be suspicious of anyone who gives a fixed time for every block. The slot depends on three things: what both buildings allow, current traffic rules for goods vehicles on your route, and the neighbours. A very early start may avoid traffic near the commercial streets but can bring complaints on a quiet residential cross road. We fix the timing after checking these for your two addresses.
Building permissions are between you and your association or owner. Road and parking rules come from the local authorities and change from time to time. We plan within what is currently allowed and tell you what we see on the survey, but we can't give you a legal opinion or promise that any rule will be relaxed.
Shop and Office Moves from Jayanagar's Commercial Streets
A boutique, a pharmacy counter, an optical shop, a coaching centre or a small CA office near 4th Block or 3rd Block can't shut for a week. The move has to fit between the last trading hour and the reopening, and every carton of stock has to be accounted for. This is how we plan these moves with the owner:
- Trading cutoff: decide the last billing time at the old shop and the opening time at the new one. Everything else is planned backwards from these.
- Stock count: count stock by carton and rack, write the count on the carton and on a list. Your staff and our team sign the list at loading, and the receiver checks it at the new shop.
- What your staff keep: cash, billing machine, card terminal, ledgers, licences and customer records travel with you, not in the truck.
- Fixtures: mark clearly which racks, counters and lights belong to you and which belong to the landlord. We only take what you have marked.
- Staging: keep a covered, dry spot to stage cartons, and confirm the goods entry at both shops.
- IT: your authorised IT person or vendor backs up, shuts down, disconnects and releases computers and networking before the packing team handles them.
- Office furniture: workstations labelled by seat number, with a floor plan for the new office so things land in the right place.
Arrange chilled food separately through an appropriate service, and gas-cylinder transfer through the supplier or an appropriate authorised alternative. Fixed electrical, plumbing or kitchen equipment needs qualified preparation and an accepted handling scope before the disconnected equipment can be assessed for transport.
Full Service, Only Labour or Few Items: Who Supplies What
An only-labour quote will always look cheaper than full service, because it covers less. Please compare like with like. This table shows what usually changes between the three options:
| Point | Full packing and moving | Only labour (your vehicle) | PG / few items |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vehicle | We arrange the goods vehicle and driver | You arrange the vehicle and authorise the driver | We arrange a small vehicle |
| Packing material | Supplied by us, as quoted | Agreed beforehand — yours or ours, charged separately | Basic material for the listed items |
| Crew | Packers and loaders sized to the job | Agreed number of people for agreed hours | Handling crew assessed from the listed load and both entrances |
| Dollies, straps, load securing | Included | Assess the supplied vehicle, handling equipment and suitable securing points before accepting the loading scope | Included for the items listed |
| Inventory and condition notes | Item list and condition notes at pickup | Agree the item count and condition record before handling | Short list |
| Transit cover | Options explained in the quote | Confirm carrier responsibility and any available cover separately | Options on request |
| Best when | Families, full homes, intercity moves | Vehicle already arranged, short local distance | Students, PG residents, single rooms |
House Shifting Charges in Jayanagar — Local Planning Guide
These ranges are a planning guide for moves from Jayanagar to another part of Bengaluru, based on what the local market is charging for this kind of work. Use the same inventory, packing and access when comparing estimates. Your actual quote comes after we see your items, on a video call or a visit.
| Move type | Typical planning range | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|
| Single item or a few items | ₹2,000 – ₹4,500 | A fridge, a bed, a few cartons |
| PG room / 1RK | ₹3,000 – ₹6,000 | Students, single working people |
| 1BHK | ₹4,500 – ₹8,500 | Singles, couples |
| 2BHK | ₹7,500 – ₹13,000 | Small families |
| 3BHK | ₹11,000 – ₹19,000 | Families with more furniture |
| 4BHK / independent house | ₹16,000 – ₹30,000+ | Large homes, two floors |
| Old family house with heavy wooden furniture | From ₹22,000, survey needed | Decades of belongings, antiques |
| Only labour (your vehicle) | ₹2,500 – ₹8,000 | Depends on crew size and hours |
| Small shop or office | From ₹8,000, survey needed | Depends on stock, furniture and IT |
What these ranges assume
- Normal packing for household goods, loading, transport within Bengaluru, unloading and placing in rooms
- Ground-floor access or a working lift that fits the assessed items
- The vehicle can stop lawfully close to the gate at both ends
- Basic dismantling and refitting of standard beds and tables
What can add to the bill
- Stair carry without a usable lift, or a lift too small for particular items
- Long carry from the vehicle to the door, or a shuttle from a bigger truck
- Lift booking or shifting fee charged by the association
- Carpenter, electrician or AC technician work, and wall-mounted TV removal
- Crating for antiques, marble or glass
- Waiting time when keys, lifts or permissions are not ready
- Unpacking at the new home, storage, GST, and the transit cover premium if you choose cover
Month-end and weekends are busier, so booking a weekday in the middle of the month gives you more choice of slot. For a fuller breakdown across Bengaluru, see our house shifting charges in Bangalore guide.
Packing and Moving Support

Intercity Shifting Charges from Jayanagar
These budgeting guides follow the destination-specific route pages for matching inventory categories. Shared or dedicated mode is named where those pages distinguish it; other bands do not automatically reserve an exclusive vehicle. Confirm inventory, mode, packing, both addresses, taxes, handling and receiving scope. Larger-home, office and vehicle examples require their own assessment.
For moves out of Bengaluru, distance, volume and the type of vehicle matter much more than the block you live in. The table covers the named destinations; compare the actual packing, loading, transport, unloading and receiving scope. Confirm the actual permitted-route tolls, applicable GST, chosen available cover, crating and storage as included or additional in the accepted total.
| Destination | 1 BHK guide | 2 BHK guide | 3 BHK guide | 4 BHK / villa guide |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chennai | Household guide: ₹11,000–₹16,000 | Household guide: ₹16,000–₹24,000 | 3 / 4 BHK guide: ₹24,000–₹38,000 | 3 / 4 BHK guide: ₹24,000–₹38,000 |
| Hyderabad | Household guide: ₹8,000–₹14,000 | Household guide: ₹14,000–₹22,000 | Household guide: ₹22,000–₹38,000 | Villa guide: ₹28,000–₹45,000 |
| Pune | Shared guide: ₹8,000–₹15,000 Dedicated guide: ₹18,000–₹28,000 | Shared guide: ₹14,000–₹25,000 Dedicated guide: ₹28,000–₹45,000 | 3 / 4 BHK shared guide: ₹22,000–₹38,000 3 / 4 BHK dedicated guide: ₹42,000–₹72,000 | Shared guide: ₹22,000–₹38,000 Dedicated guide: ₹42,000–₹72,000 |
| Mumbai | 1 RK / 1 BHK guide: ₹12,000–₹18,000 | Household guide: ₹18,000–₹28,000 | 3 / 4 BHK guide: ₹28,000–₹45,000 | 3 / 4 BHK guide: ₹28,000–₹45,000 |
| Delhi / NCR | Household guide: ₹20,000–₹35,000 | Household guide: ₹35,000–₹55,000 | Household guide: ₹55,000–₹85,000 | Villa guide: ₹85,000–₹1,40,000 |
| Kolkata | Household guide: ₹14,000–₹22,000 Small shared-load starting reference; assessed: ₹12,000 | Compact shared/part-load guide: ₹22,000–₹35,000 | Consolidated-space household guide: ₹35,000–₹55,000 | Surveyed inventory quote |
| Other consignment | What determines the quote |
|---|---|
| Few home items | List item dimensions, packing, minimum chargeable space or weight and both doors for the named route; compare a shared consignment with the actual dispatch window. |
| Complete house / 5 BHK / large family home | Survey every room, heavy furniture, loft and fragile pieces; allocate capacity and agree the shared or dedicated handling plan. |
| Few office items | Count desks, IT equipment, files and packing; obtain authorised asset release and both goods-entry appointments. |
| Complete office | Survey the actual assets, seats, specialist work, floor plan and IT shutdown; a BHK guide is not a full-office price. |
| House + car | Price the identified household consignment and car carrier/collection/drop legs separately; arrival windows can differ. |
Large homes and complete offices need a measured inventory and a suitable capacity plan. An extra room alone does not set the price: a heavily furnished 1 BHK may need more work than a lightly furnished 2 BHK. Check the item list, mode, access and inclusions when comparing totals.
Shared load or dedicated vehicle?
Shared load
Your goods travel with other customers' consignments and may be shifted between vehicles at a hub. It costs less and suits a few items or a 1BHK, but delivery takes longer and the date is less fixed.
Dedicated vehicle
Compare exclusive use of the agreed load space, dispatch window, planned handling points and receiving appointment. A dedicated vehicle may reduce consolidation waits; it does not establish a guaranteed arrival time or remove the need for suitable protection.
As a rough guide for a dedicated vehicle, Chennai usually takes 1 to 2 days, Hyderabad 2 to 3, Mumbai 3 to 5 and Delhi NCR 5 to 8, depending on the route and the season. Shared loads take longer. Route-wise details are on our Bangalore to Hyderabad and Bangalore to Mumbai pages, and a city-wide view is in our packers and movers Bangalore charges guide.
Car and Bike Transport from Jayanagar
Bikes and cars are priced separately from household goods. A car usually goes on a car carrier and a bike is packed and moved either with the household load or in a separate consignment.
| Destination | Bike / scooter model guide | Ordinary car carrier / model guide |
|---|---|---|
| Chennai | Bike / scooter guide: ₹2,500–₹4,500 | Ordinary open-carrier guide: ₹4,500–₹8,000 |
| Hyderabad | Bike guide: ₹3,000–₹5,500 | Car carrier guide: ₹5,000–₹10,000 |
| Pune | Commuter / scooter guide: ₹4,000–₹8,000 | Open carrier: ₹8,000–₹14,000 Enclosed carrier request: ₹14,000–₹22,000 |
| Mumbai | Standard packing: ₹3,500–₹4,500 Assessed crate request: ₹5,000–₹6,000 | Open carrier: ₹8,000–₹10,000 Enclosed carrier request: ₹12,000–₹14,000 |
| Delhi / NCR | Regular scooter / bike guide: ₹5,500–₹10,000 Heavy / premium model guide: ₹9,000–₹14,000 | Open-carrier comparison: ₹12,000–₹18,000 Enclosed-carrier request: ₹20,000–₹32,000 |
| Kolkata | Scooter guide: ₹4,500–₹6,000 Standard100–200cc guide: ₹5,000–₹7,000 Large/heavy model guide: ₹6,500–₹9,000 | Hatchback guide: ₹10,000–₹13,000 Sedan guide: ₹11,000–₹15,000 SUV/MUV guide: ₹13,000–₹18,000 |
Within Bengaluru, a bike move from Jayanagar usually falls between ₹1,500 and ₹3,500 depending on distance and packing. SUVs, superbikes, premium/EV models and an enclosed-carrier request need the actual model, dimensions and available carrier assessed separately; ordinary-car figures do not apply automatically.
Keep these ready at pickup
- Keep originals with you and provide the registration, insurance and identity copies required by the assigned carrier
- A photo ID copy of the owner
- Follow the actual carrier’s fuel or battery preparation with model guidance; remove personal valuables and loose accessories, and agree any driven collection or delivery legs separately
- Photos of the vehicle from all sides, with the odometer, taken together with our team
If you plan to re-register the vehicle in another state later, please check the RTO process separately; that is outside the move itself. More detail is on our bike transport charges guide and the car transport to Hyderabad page.
How to Choose Packers and Movers in Jayanagar
Most bad shifting experiences start with a quote that was too vague. Before you book anyone — us included — check these:
- Did they see your items? A proper quote comes after a video call or a visit, not from a two-minute phone call.
- Is the scope written down? Packing, loading, transport, unloading, unpacking, dismantling and refitting — which of these are included?
- Are the extras listed? Stairs, long carry, lift fees, technicians, crating, waiting and GST should be on paper, not discovered on the day.
- What does the transit cover actually cover? Ask for the declared value, exclusions and claim process.
- Who is your contact on the day? One name and number, at both ends.
- Is there a proper bill? With the company name, address and GST details.
Warning signs
- A price that drops sharply the moment you hesitate, and then grows on moving day
- Pressure to pay a large advance before anything is confirmed in writing
- Refusing to give an item list or asking you to sign a blank or incomplete receipt
- No address or landline you can verify
A cheaper quote is not automatically a bad one. Just make sure the two quotes you are comparing cover the same work.
Why Jayanagar Families Choose Us
We see the items before quoting
A video walkthrough or a home visit, so the quote is for your house and not a guess based on "2BHK".
Written scope and extras
What is included and what costs extra are listed in the quote. If something changes on the day, we tell you before doing it.
Packing decided item by item
Brass, teak, glass, electronics and papers each get the packing they need, not one standard wrap for everything.
Both ends planned
We check access, timing and building rules at the pickup and the delivery address before fixing the slot.
Local and intercity in one booking
House goods, car and bike can be planned together even when they travel on separate legs.
Based in South Bengaluru
Our office contact is in HSR Layout. Discuss both addresses and arrange a suitable video or physical survey appointment.
How Your Jayanagar Shifting Works, Step by Step
- Call or WhatsApp: share both addresses with block, cross, floor and PIN, your moving date and a rough item list.
- Survey: a video walkthrough or a visit to see items, access, lift and stairs. Heavy and fragile pieces are noted.
- Written quote: scope, vehicle, crew, extras, cover options and payment terms in writing. You confirm the date once both buildings have agreed.
- Packing: by item type, with room labels for the new house and an item list. Hardware bagged, photos taken of dismantled pieces.
- Loading and transit: use a balanced, compatible loading and securing plan, supporting fragile items and protecting them from stack pressure. For intercity moves you get a docket number to follow the consignment.
- Delivery and setup: carton count checked against the list, items placed room by room, furniture refitted as agreed, packing waste collected if that is part of the scope.
Packing by Item Type
Kitchen and crockery
Choose cushioning, separation and carton strength for the actual crockery and glass, keeping pieces supported against stack pressure. Disclose pickles, oil and other liquids for carrier acceptance and leak protection; do not assume every bottle can travel.
Puja room and brass
Many families prefer to pack idols and photos themselves. We give you a clean carton and padding, and that box travels with the family if you wish. Heavy brass lamps get their own carton so they don't crush lighter things.
Glass, marble and mirrors
Assess dimensions, construction and fixings before removal; choose compatible cushioning, supports and handling orientation. Large or fragile pieces may need a crate or specialist assistance.
TV, computers and appliances
Original boxes if you still have them, otherwise padded cartons. Prepare, defrost/drain and dry appliances according to their model instructions or qualified advice, allowing enough time before packing.
Books and papers
Small cartons so they are not too heavy to lift. Property papers, certificates and anything you can't replace stay with you.
Plants
Disclose live plants separately and confirm acceptance and preparation for the actual carrier and destination; arrange an alternative if they cannot travel.
Moving Day Checklist for Jayanagar Homes
Do
- Confirm the slot with both buildings two or three days before
- Keep jewellery, cash, documents, medicines and keys with you
- Photograph expensive items before packing
- Keep one person free to answer the crew's questions
- Leave the first-night bag and water bottles aside where everyone can see
Don't
- Pack LPG cylinders, petrol, kerosene, paint thinner, acids or crackers with your goods
- Leave perishables in the fridge
- Sign the delivery receipt before counting cartons
- Book a large truck without telling the mover how narrow your road or gate is
- Forget to update your address with the bank, gas agency and other services after the move
Transit Cover, Delivery Check and Claims
Packing, securing and condition records help manage risk. Available transit cover has its own terms. Transit cover is optional and its terms come from the cover provider, not from a salesman's promise. Before choosing it, ask for the declared value, what is excluded, and how a claim is made. These are explained in our quote.
At delivery
- Count the cartons and furniture pieces against the item list. Record any discrepancy or missing item on the receipt and raise it with the booking contact.
- If something is visibly damaged, write it on the delivery receipt before signing and take photos right there.
- Damage found later while unpacking should be reported, with photos, within the time mentioned in your cover terms. Keep the damaged item and the packing it came in.
About tracking
Keep your docket or consignment reference for the website status-request option or agreed status contact. Confirm available update milestones and ask separately about live location for the allotted vehicle. If you need live location for a particular move, ask before booking and we'll tell you honestly whether it is available for that vehicle.
When the Keys Don't Line Up: Storage
It happens often — the new owner wants possession on the 1st, but your new flat's painting is not finished until the 10th. Ask whether waiting, available storage or staged delivery can cover that gap for the actual load. Before you agree, get these in writing: where goods will be kept, duration, access, in/out handling, cover, redelivery charges and the receiving appointment. Storage is subject to space being available on your dates, so tell us about the gap as early as you can.
