What actually changes your number
- Volume, not BHK size alone. Two 2 BHK homes can have very different furniture and carton volumes. A bachelor 2 BHK and a family 2 BHK with a showcase, dining set and two almirahs are not the same job.

How many days does Bangalore to Ranchi shifting take?
Map apps show a few road options between Bengaluru and Ranchi – around 1,824 km on one corridor, about 1,854 km on the NH44 side and close to 1,965 km on a longer alternative. So it is safer to think of it as roughly 1,820–2,000 km. The final distance depends on where in Bangalore we load, where in Ranchi you live and which roads a loaded truck is permitted to take at that time. Road works and diversions change from month to month, so we confirm the route when the truck is actually dispatched.
Four clocks, not one
- Packing and loading. Usually one day for a 1–2 BHK. A full 3 BHK can need a second day.

Kanke Road, Ratu Road, Booty More and newer apartment areas
Newer apartments usually have better road access but stricter society rules – lift booking, fixed shifting hours and sometimes a move-in form. Check the service lift size if you have a double-door fridge or a large wardrobe, and tell the society office your expected arrival date in advance.
Hatia, Dhurwa and HEC area quarters
Township roads are generally wider, but entry is controlled. Keep the allotment letter and your ID handy, find out the gate goods vehicles must use, and confirm the allowed hours. If the quarters need repairs before you move in, this is exactly where a short holding period helps.
BIT Mesra and other campus moves
The institute's address is BIT Mesra, Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand 835215, a fair drive outside the main city. For hostel rooms or faculty quarters, permission comes from the institute, not from the mover. Ask the hostel or estate office which gate goods vehicles use, the timings, who signs for entry and whether you need to be there in person. If the institute itself is sending lab equipment or official furniture, that is a business consignment with its own paperwork, separate from your personal goods.

Packing for 1,800+ km and Ranchi weather
No packing makes goods fully waterproof for a week on the road, and anyone promising "zero moisture" is overselling. What actually works is packing each item according to what it is, a closed-body truck, and careful handling at loading and unloading – especially if it is raining in Ranchi when the truck reaches.
- Polished wooden furniture: corrugated sheets and corner guards. Stretch film is not wrapped directly on freshly polished or lacquered surfaces, because it can trap heat and mark the finish over a long trip.
- Sofas and mattresses: covered fully, with mattress covers or sheet wrap, and loaded so nothing heavy sits on them.
- Fridge: follow the model’s preparation, drying, transport orientation and restart guidance. Ask a qualified technician where needed rather than assuming one waiting period suits every appliance.
- Washing machine: drain and secure the appliance according to its model instructions. Arrange the correct transit fittings or authorised assistance rather than substituting loose packing for required transport bolts.
- TV and monitors: original box if you have it, otherwise a padded carton or a wooden crate for large screens.
- Glass tops and mirrors: packed separately, standing on edge, never flat under other goods.
- Books and files: small cartons only. A large carton of books is too heavy to carry safely up stairs.
- Keep with you: jewellery, cash, original documents, laptops, medicines and puja items you need daily.
If it rains during unloading, cartons go in under a shed or covered entrance first, and heavy pieces wait until the shower eases. Before you sign the delivery receipt, check for wet or crushed cartons and note anything you find.
