What to check in your written quote
- Tolls and fuel: whether they are already inside the transport amount or shown separately.
- GST: shown as per the invoice type and the rate applicable to your booking. Ask for it in writing, do not assume.
- Stairs and carry: number of floors without a lift and the walking distance from the truck to your door, at both ends.

Map apps show a few options for this route. When we checked in October 2026, the main driving options were about 1,823 km on NH44, about 1,861 km on a combination of NH44 and NH30, and about 1,929 km on NH44 and NH543. For goods, plan on roughly 1,820 to 1,950 km. The real figure depends on your Bangalore pickup point, your Varanasi delivery point and which roads a loaded goods vehicle can use at that time. Diversions due to road work keep changing, so we confirm the corridor close to the dispatch date.

Best for a full 2 BHK or bigger home, a family with elders who need a firm date, or a house full of heavy wooden furniture and antiques. Confirm any transfer, last-mile shuttle and handling plan for the actual addresses; an exclusive vehicle does not automatically remove every extra handling step. You pay more because you pay for the whole vehicle.
Shared part load
Works well for a 1 BHK, a partly furnished flat, or when your date has a few days of flexibility. Your goods share space with other customers' consignments heading north. It costs less, but the departure may wait until the truck has enough load, and there can be one extra handling point. Pack fragile items well and keep anything precious with you.
Few items, student luggage or a single room
If you are sending only a bed, a study table, a few cartons of books and a cycle, a full household quote is not needed. The hardest part of this move is often the last 2 km, not the 1,900 km before it. Varanasi has wide roads, gated campuses and lanes so narrow that even a scooter has to wait. We plan the delivery point during the survey, not when the truck arrives.
BHU and IIT (BHU) campus
The Banaras Hindu University campus, which includes IIT (BHU), is on the Lanka side of the city and uses the postal address Varanasi 221005. Writing "BHU, Lanka" on the form is not enough for a truck. Please share:
- Your department, hostel name and room, or quarter number and block
- Which gate goods vehicles are allowed to use, and any timing the campus sets for them
- Whether your hostel warden or estate office needs to be informed or give permission before unloading

Lanka, Sigra, Bhelupur and apartment areas
Many apartments and independent houses in Lanka, Sigra, Mahmoorganj and Bhelupur are reachable by a mid-sized truck, but not all. Send us two or three photos or a short video: the society gate, the road just outside, the lift (with its door width) or the staircase. Check whether your society needs advance notice for moving in, and if there is a fixed time when goods can come in. If the main truck cannot reach the gate, we fix a nearby legal stopping point in advance.
Old city and ghat-side lanes
Homes near Godowlia, Dashashwamedh, Assi, Chowk and the galis behind the ghats need a different plan. A container truck cannot enter most of these lanes. Depending on your lane, the options are:
- The truck stops at the nearest point where a goods vehicle can legally stand.
- If the lane allows it, a smaller vehicle carries goods closer to your door.
- Where even that is not possible, the crew carries items by hand, through turns and up steps.
We cannot promise truck-to-doorstep delivery in the old city, and you should be careful of anyone who does without seeing your lane. What we do is look at the lane on video, check the narrowest turn and the staircase, and tell you before booking whether your almirah or double bed will go up as it is or needs to be dismantled. Any shuttle or manual carry cost is written in the quote.
Festival days, crowds and weather
Varanasi gets very crowded around Dev Deepawali, Mahashivratri, the Sawan month and on big snan dates, and certain roads near the ghats get restricted. Big wedding dates also choke some areas. Before fixing your delivery date, check what is happening in your area that week. On the weather side, heavy rain in the monsoon can slow the southern part of the route, and winter fog in north India, mostly from December to January, can hold trucks back in the early mornings. We pack for rain with waterproof covers on the load and keep you posted if the truck is running late.
Packing a Puja Mandir, Idols and Family Heirlooms
For many families going back to Kashi, the mandir and the murtis matter more than anything else on the truck. There is no single "standard" way to pack them, because a carved sheesham mandir, a marble one and a light ready-made unit all behave differently.
- Ask the family first. Some families prefer to wrap or carry the idols themselves, or want a particular person to handle them. Some do not want certain items to go in the truck at all. Tell us at the survey and we follow it.
- Look at the build. We check the wood or stone, the joints, the weight and whether the dome, doors or shelves come off. Removable parts are taken off, photographed, labelled and packed separately so the mandir can be put back together the same way.
- Brass, copper and stone murtis are wrapped individually so they do not touch each other, and placed in a strong carton or small crate with enough padding to stop movement. The safe orientation, support, lifting equipment and restraints for heavy stone depend on its construction, weight and assessed handling plan.
- Old photo frames and portraits of elders get corner protection and travel standing, not flat under other cartons.
- A separate "puja first day" box with diya, agarbatti, a small idol or photo, kalash and the essentials, marked clearly, so the family can do puja on the first morning without opening everything.
Antique or very valuable pieces may need specialist handling. If something is irreplaceable, tell us; we may suggest that you carry it yourself.
