Shifting from Bengaluru to Kanpur is a long road move, roughly 1,800 to 2,000 km depending on the corridor the truck takes and the exact gates at both ends. Most people planning this move have the same four questions. What will it cost for my flat? Should I book a shared part load or a dedicated truck? How many days will the goods take? And who will receive everything in Kanpur if I'm still travelling?
This page answers those questions for this route specifically, so you can compare quotes on the same basis before you book. We are Packers and Movers from Bangalore, operating from HSR Layout. We pick up from across Bengaluru and deliver to the actual address you give us, whether that is a flat in Swaroop Nagar, a house in Govind Nagar, a hostel or staff quarter at IIT Kanpur, or a unit in Panki. Call 7015440700 with your item list and the full delivery address, and we will tell you the right mode, a realistic timeline and exactly what the quote covers.

Bangalore to Kanpur distance, route and transit days
There is no single fixed distance for a goods move. The kilometres change with where the truck actually loads in Bengaluru (Whitefield and Electronic City are on opposite sides of the city), the corridor the planner chooses and where it has to stand in Kanpur. The observed city-pin driving options were:
| Corridor option | Approx. distance | When it is usually considered |
|---|---|---|
| Selected driving option labelled NH44 | about 1,829 km | One observed city-pin route; suitability depends on actual goods vehicle and current roads |
| NH44 with an NH34 section | about 1,850 km | Sometimes chosen depending on road work, traffic or where in Kanpur the drop is |
| NH44 with an NH30 section | about 1,994 km | A longer alternative, used when the planner has a specific reason to avoid the other options |
One thing to keep in mind: the hours a navigation app shows for a car are not a delivery promise for goods. A loaded truck moves slower, the driver needs rest, and there is loading time in Bengaluru and unloading time in Kanpur on top of the road journey. Shared loads also wait to be consolidated. That is why the planning windows below are counted by mode, not by driving hours.
Realistic transit planning by mode
| Mode | What happens between pickup and delivery | Planning window |
|---|---|---|
| Exclusive vehicle | The agreed vehicle is reserved for your inventory; confirm packing, departure and any local transfer | 4–6 days on road after loading |
| Shared part load | Pickup, any agreed consolidation and transfers, scheduled dispatch, road movement and arranged local delivery | 8–14 days from pickup |
| Car on a carrier | Vehicle handed over in Bengaluru, travels on a car carrier with other cars, delivered separately from household goods | 6–9 days from handover |
| Bike (sent separately) | Packed bike moves with other consignments; if it travels in your household truck it arrives with your goods | 5–9 days from pickup |
These are planning ranges, not guarantees. Ask for the expected dispatch date and delivery window on your quote in writing, and plan your train or flight and your first few nights in Kanpur around that, not around the best case.
Shared part load or a dedicated truck: compare the actual booking
Ask whether the estimate reserves the whole vehicle or only space for your consignment. Dedicated transport should identify the exclusive vehicle arrangement. A dispatch date or a promise to keep cartons together does not by itself reserve the truck. Compare the same inventory, packing standard and gate-to-door work before deciding.
- Pickup: agree packing, the actual Bengaluru floor/lift and the point where goods are loaded.
- Dispatch: ask whether there is consolidation, where goods wait, the expected departure and how updates are shared. Confirm any local transfers for either mode.
- Receiving: name the Kanpur receiver, approved unloading slot and final delivery point. Exclusive transport still needs access and a crew at the destination.
| Compare | Shared part load | Dedicated exclusive vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Space and price basis | Booked volume/weight, subject to a minimum charge | Agreed whole-vehicle capacity and safe loading plan |
| Timing | Confirm consolidation and actual dispatch; allow around8–14 days from pickup for planning | Road planning around4–6 days after loading; packing, departure and receiving dates agreed separately |
| Handling | Record any hub/local transfer and package count at each handover | Confirm direct movement and any transfer needed for gate access |
| Suitable inventory | Students, few items and households with flexible dates | Larger homes, offices or a measured load requiring exclusive transport |
Match the mode to the inventory and joining date
- Household: compare shared and exclusive estimates using the same room-wise list, including villa furniture and awkward pieces.
- Student/few-item: check the minimum charge and permitted PG furniture before sending a bed, fridge, study table or cartons.
- Office/shop: count furniture, IT assets, files and stock separately; agree the authorised receiver and loading equipment.
- Car/bike: confirm its own mode, condition record, pickup/delivery legs and arrival window. Combined budgeting does not guarantee combined loading.
Bengaluru to Kanpur shifting charges (planning ranges)
The figures below retain useful lower and higher household budget bands while separating an exclusive vehicle quotation. The higher band reflects a larger inventory or added packing/handling scope; it does not promise priority dispatch or exclusive truck use. Compare the measured load and inclusions after a video/home survey. Actual vehicle, floors, carry distance and both addresses determine the final estimate.
| Move size | Shared part load | Larger inventory / added packing scope | Exclusive vehicle | Planning window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1BHK | ₹16,000 – ₹22,000 | ₹26,000 – ₹34,000 | Quoted after survey | 8–14 days shared; exclusive dates agreed after survey |
| 2BHK | ₹25,000 – ₹36,000 | ₹38,000 – ₹52,000 | Quoted after survey | 8–14 days shared; exclusive dates agreed after survey |
| 3BHK / villa | ₹42,000 – ₹55,000 | ₹58,000 – ₹78,000 | Quoted after survey | 8–14 days shared; exclusive dates agreed after survey |
| Few items / student | Priced on measured volume, minimum charge and handling scope | 8–14 days | ||
| Office / shop | Survey-based quote for furniture, IT equipment, files and stock | As agreed on quote | ||
| Car on a carrier | ₹14,000 – ₹21,000 (a fully covered carrier, if needed, is confirmed and priced on the quote) | 6–9 days from handover | ||
| Bike / scooter | ₹5,500 – ₹9,000 depending on size and whether it travels with household goods | 5–9 days if sent separately | ||
A "starting from" price you see online for a 2BHK is usually the lowest-scope option. Before comparing it with any quote, check whether it includes packing material, both-end labour, toll, the floor at the Kanpur end and GST. A low base price with three extras added on delivery day is not cheaper.
What a complete quote should include
Normally part of the quoted price
- Packing material for the items on your list
- Packing, labelling and loading in Bengaluru
- Transport to the Kanpur address on the quote
- Unloading and placing goods in the rooms you point out, up to the floor and carry distance written on the quote
- Opening and refitting of standard beds and tables, if listed
- Whether toll is included or shown separately, written clearly
Usually extra or on request
- Stairs beyond the quoted floor, or no working lift
- Long carry where the truck cannot stand near the gate
- AC, geyser, RO, chimney or TV wall-mount technicians
- Carpenter work and wooden crating for special items
- Storage or holding if you are not ready to receive
- Transit cover premium, if you choose it
- GST, unless the quote says the price is inclusive
Toll, floors, long carry, technicians, holding and GST
Toll: on a run of roughly 1,800 km a truck crosses many toll plazas, and the total depends on the vehicle size and corridor. There is no need to guess it yourself. Just make sure your quote says either "toll included" or shows the toll as a separate figure.
Floors and long carry: tell us the floor at both ends, whether the lift is working and large enough for a fridge or sofa, and how far the truck can stand from your door. These three details change labour more than anything else, and they are often different in Bengaluru and Kanpur.
Technicians: AC uninstallation in Bengaluru and reinstallation in Kanpur are separate jobs. We can arrange them on request, or you can use your own technician in Kanpur.
Holding: if possession is uncertain, ask about actual storage/holding availability before dispatch. Agree location, volume/rate basis, duration, handling, selected cover and redelivery cost. Reconfirm keys, gate/lift slot and the receiver before final delivery.
GST: GST is charged as applicable on the invoiced service. Your quote should show it as a separate line or clearly say it is included.
Illustrative budget: how a 2BHK shared part load estimate is built
This is an example of the structure, so you know what to look for. It is not an invoice and not a record of any past move.
| Line item | How it is decided | What to check on your quote |
|---|---|---|
| Base: packing, loading, transport, unloading | Volume of your items; for a typical 2BHK this falls in the ₹25,000–₹36,000 shared range | Item list attached to the quote |
| Toll | Vehicle and corridor | "Included" or a separate figure |
| Kanpur end: floor and carry | Floor, lift and distance from truck to door | Floor and carry written on the quote |
| Technicians (optional) | Number of ACs or fittings | Listed separately, only if you asked |
| Holding (optional) | Days held before delivery | Per-day or per-week rate agreed in advance |
| Transit cover (optional) | Declared value and the policy you select | Policy terms and exclusions shared before dispatch |
| GST | As applicable on the invoiced service | Shown separately or marked inclusive |
Receiving address in Kanpur: one city, very different gates
Writing "Kanpur" on a quote is not enough. Two addresses in the same city can need completely different handling, and the truck plan depends on the actual gate, not the city name or the pin code. We check each delivery address on its own merits and do not assume one rule applies to every lane.
Generalganj or Collectorganj market entrance vs a Swaroop Nagar flat
If you are delivering to a house or godown inside a busy wholesale market like Generalganj or Collectorganj, the question is where a loaded truck can stand and when. During business hours the lane may be crowded with handcarts and shop deliveries, so the delivery time and the possible need for a smaller vehicle for the last stretch are worked out against your exact address. If a transfer to a smaller vehicle is needed, it is shown on the quote; it is not assumed to be free or assumed to be required.
A flat in a Swaroop Nagar apartment building is a different exercise. Here the questions are about the society: move-in timings, lift booking, whether the guard needs a prior intimation and where the truck can park. A short call with the society office or the secretary a few days before delivery saves a lot of waiting on the day.
Kidwai Nagar and Govind Nagar: check the gate, floor and carry
These are largely residential areas with a mix of independent houses and multi-storey homes, and the lanes vary a lot. Some houses have the truck right at the gate; others need a carry of a few minutes. Many upper floors have no lift, and some staircases are too narrow for a big sofa or double-door fridge. Please tell us the floor, the staircase width (a phone photo helps) and how far the truck can stop from your gate. Two houses in the same block can need different handling.
Details to send before dispatch
- Full address with landmark, and a Google Maps pin of the actual gate
- Floor number, lift availability and lift size
- Nearest point where a truck can stand, and approximate walking distance
- Society or building timing rules, if any
- Name and phone number of the person receiving, plus a backup contact
- Whether you need goods held if the house is not ready
Students, PG moves and IIT Kanpur deliveries
A student move and a family move are different jobs, even when the cartons look similar. A student usually needs a few things to arrive quickly and the rest can follow. A family needs the full house to arrive together and in good shape.
Kakadeo coaching and PG moves
Kakadeo is known for coaching institutes, and many students moving from Bengaluru stay in a PG or rented room nearby. For these moves, keep the list short and practical: books and notes, laptop and charger, a study table and chair if the room is unfurnished, a mattress, a small cooler or fan, and clothes for the season. Check with the PG owner what furniture is already provided before you send yours, and confirm whether goods can be delivered when the owner or warden is around. A shared part load is normally the best value for this size.
IIT Kanpur campus (208016)
IIT Kanpur is a large campus with a main gate, several halls of residence, staff residential areas and other venues. The pin code 208016 or the words "IIT Kanpur" alone do not tell the driver where to go. For a campus delivery, please share:
- The exact hall, block, room number, or staff quarter number
- The name and phone number of the receiver (the student, faculty member or a nominated person)
- Any permission or entry intimation your hall office or estate office asks for
- Whether a vehicle can reach the block, or goods need to be carried from a set point
Campus rules can change and differ between hostels and residential areas, so confirm them with your hall or estate office a few days ahead. Similarly, a railway station or a generic city location is not a receiving gate. Goods are delivered to the actual address on your quote.
Family move vs student move: inventory difference
| Compare | Student / PG move | Family move |
|---|---|---|
| Typical items | Books, laptop, mattress, study table, clothes, small appliances | Full furniture, kitchen, appliances, wardrobes, children's things |
| Usual mode | Shared part load | Shared or exclusive transport after inventory comparison |
| Receiver | Student, warden or PG owner | A family member or a trusted relative at the new house |
| Main risk | Nobody available to receive at the hostel or PG | Floor, lift and carry at the Kanpur house not checked in advance |
Office, shop and industrial consignments: Panki, Dada Nagar, Rooma
If you are moving business goods to an industrial area like Panki, Dada Nagar or Rooma (also written Ruma), please keep them separate from family belongings, even if they are going to the same city. Household goods and business assets have different paperwork, different receivers and often a different loading setup.
- Survey the actual consignment: office furniture, workstations, servers and printers, files, stock or light machinery each need their own packing and loading plan. Heavy machinery may need a forklift or crane at the site, which the receiving unit arranges or which is quoted separately.
- Documents: business goods normally move against a tax invoice or delivery challan, and an e-way bill where GST rules require it. Your accounts team prepares these; we will tell you the vehicle and consignment details needed on them.
- Authorised receiver: name one person at the Kanpur unit who will count and sign for the goods. Factory gates usually have security entry, so share the gate number and receiving timings in advance.
- Labelling: label by department or workstation so the team can be back at work quickly, and keep a separate count for each.
Kanpur, Unnao and Lucknow are separate endpoints
People often say "Kanpur side" for addresses that are actually in a different district. Shuklaganj, just across the Ganga, falls in Unnao district. Lucknow is a separate city altogether, and we have a separate Bangalore to Lucknow route page for it. Each address is quoted to its actual location. There is no automatic flat surcharge for Unnao or Lucknow, and there is no automatic discount for being "close to Kanpur". The distance, the truck plan and the receiving conditions at that address decide the price. If your goods need to go partly to Kanpur and partly to Lucknow, tell us at the start so both drops are planned on the same quote.
Packing and unloading that suits a 1,800 km road move
For a long road move, protect against movement, pressure and moisture, and keep a numbered inventory for the handovers:
- Dry packing: defrost and dry the fridge at least a day before, drain the washing machine fully, and do not pack wet clothes, mops or plants with other goods. Moisture packed in Bengaluru stays inside the carton all the way.
- Room-wise labelling and counts: each carton is marked with the room and a number, and the total count is written on the inventory. At Kanpur, the count is matched before the truck leaves.
- Screen and furniture protection: TVs and monitors in their original box if you have it, otherwise with corner protection and a carton; wooden crating on request. Sofas, beds and tables are wrapped so that surfaces don't rub during the long run.
- Condition record: before loading, existing scratches and dents on furniture and appliances are noted, and you should take your own photos too. This is useful later if anything needs to be checked.
- Covered unloading: plastic covering and tarpaulin reduce exposure if it rains during unloading, and cartons are not left standing on wet ground. Agree a dry staging area and covered unloading route before the truck arrives.
Summer heat, winter fog and arrival-day setup
Check current weather along the assigned corridor and at the receiving address. Summer loading needs shade and suitable storage for heat-sensitive items; ordinary goods transport is not temperature-controlled. Rain calls for dry packing and covered staging, while reduced visibility or diversions can change the running plan. Confirm an updated arrival window before arranging the Kanpur crew.
Back up computers and gaming systems, label cables/accessories by device and agree suitable screen support and compatible anti-static protection. Keep furniture hardware with its numbered item without adhesive on finished surfaces. Agree unpacking, furniture reassembly, appliance technician work and packing-debris removal separately so the home or workstation can be set up in the right order.
First-night and work-from-home kit
Keep one bag or box that travels with you, not in the truck:
- Documents: ID, rent agreement, admission or joining letter, vehicle RC and insurance copies
- Medicines, phone chargers, a power bank and an extension board
- Two days of clothes, toiletries, a bedsheet and a towel
- Laptop, charger, mouse and headphones if you need to log in on the first working day
- A few utensils, a kettle and basic snacks
Car and bike transport from Bangalore to Kanpur
Vehicles usually travel separately from household goods and arrive on their own schedule. A car goes on a car carrier and is planned at 6–9 days from handover. A bike can go in the same truck as your household goods (and arrive with them) or separately, planned at 5–9 days.
- Before handover: follow the assigned carrier’s fuel instructions, remove valuables and loose accessories, and agree FASTag handling and any authorised driven collection/delivery. Note existing scratches and dents together with the person taking the vehicle, and take dated photos.
- Papers: keep copies of the RC, valid insurance and PUC ready. For an electric vehicle, follow the manufacturer's and the carrier's guidance on charge level.
- Permanent move: if you plan to settle in Kanpur, check with the RTO about the NOC from Karnataka and re-registration rules in Uttar Pradesh. Transport, any long-stay registration reassignment and applicable vehicle tax are separate matters; confirm the current requirements for your vehicle and circumstances.
- Delivery point: confirm whether the vehicle will be delivered to your door or handed over at a point nearby where the carrier can stop.
For bike charges on other routes, see our bike transport charges guide.
Checking goods after unpacking and reporting damage
If you find damage or a missing package, a clear handover record helps the support team assess what happened. Keep these records together:
- Keep the inventory list and your own photos from the Bengaluru packing day.
- At delivery, match the carton count and write any visible damage or missing cartons on the delivery receipt before signing.
- Open cartons as soon as you reasonably can. If you find damage inside, photograph the item along with the carton label and the packing.
- Keep the damaged item and its packing until it has been seen. Don't throw the carton away.
- Report in writing to us with the photos, within the time stated on your quote and in your transit cover document.
Transit cover is optional and based on the declared value of your goods. What is payable, the time limit to report and the process are decided by the terms of the policy you select, which you should read before dispatch. We will not promise a fixed settlement amount or timeline, because those depend on that policy and the assessment of the specific claim.
Booking timeline for a Bengaluru to Kanpur move
- 2–3 weeks before: share your item list and both addresses, and take the video survey. Decide the mode based on how fixed your Kanpur date is.
- 10 days before: confirm the quote, the pickup date and the dispatch date in writing. Book AC technicians if needed.
- 5–7 days before: speak to your Bengaluru society about lift booking and truck parking. Do the same for the Kanpur address.
- 1 day before: defrost the fridge, drain the washing machine, keep your first-night kit aside.
- Delivery day: receiver at the address with the inventory copy; count, check, then sign.
