Shifting from Bengaluru to Mangaluru looks simple on the map. Both cities are in Karnataka, the drive is around 350 km, and most people know someone who did the trip by car in a day. A house move is a different job. Your goods have to come down the Western Ghats in whatever truck the route allows that week, reach a coastal city where rain can arrive without much warning, and then get from the truck to your door in a lane that may be steep, narrow or crowded.
We are Packers and Movers from Bangalore, based in HSR Layout, and this page explains how we plan a Bangalore to Mangalore move: what it usually costs, when a shared load makes sense and when it doesn't, which ghat road may be used, how we pack for the coast, and what we check before the truck turns into your street in Kadri, Bejai, Kankanady, Hampankatta or Panambur. If you want a quote for your actual home, call or WhatsApp 7015440700.
Bangalore to Mangalore move at a glance
- Type of move: Within Karnataka (intra-state); both cities are in the same state.
- Road distance: Plan roughly 350–400 km depending on actual gates and the permitted corridor. The common driving route is about 347 km via NH75; other common options are about 346 km via Magadi Main Road joining NH75, and about 372 km via the Chikkanayakanahalli–Hassan side.
- Ghat sections in use: Confirm the assigned ghat approach and current vehicle/date restrictions before dispatch; do not assume a published car route is open to every loaded truck.
- Moving options: Shared / part load for smaller homes, dedicated truck for larger homes or fixed dates, separate carrier for cars and bikes.
- Pickup: Share the actual Bengaluru address. Delivery: Confirm the Mangaluru property and service gate, including any Surathkal or Panambur endpoint.

Who usually books this route
Different readers need different plans for this route: a returning family may need room-by-room sorting, a transferee may have a furnished rental, and an office coordinator needs a receiving bay and equipment list. Start with the situation that matches your move:
- Coastal Karnataka families going back home after years in Bengaluru, often with a mix of goods for their own house and some items for parents or relatives.
- Working professionals on transfer to banks, hospitals, colleges, IT offices or companies around Baikampady, Panambur and Surathkal, sometimes moving into a furnished flat first.
- Office coordinators shifting a small office, a few workstations or a set of company files and IT equipment.
- Vehicle owners who only want their car, bike or scooter sent down, or who want the vehicle to go with the household goods.
If you tell us which of these fits you, we can skip the generic questions and get to the real ones: how much you are moving, how soon, and who will receive it in Mangaluru.
Bangalore to Mangalore house shifting charges
The figures below are working ranges for a normal household inventory, packed by us, loaded at your Bengaluru home and unloaded at your Mangaluru address. They help you judge whether a quote is in the right area. They are not a fixed rate card, and your final price comes only after we see or hear your actual list of items.
| Home size | Guide range | Usual mode | What the range normally covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 RK / studio | ₹7,000 – ₹12,000 | Shared / part load | Packing of a light inventory, loading, transport to Mangaluru, unloading at a reachable door |
| 1 BHK | ₹14,000 – ₹24,000 | Shared or dedicated after surveyed capacity and scope | Packing, basic dismantling and refixing of a bed or wardrobe, loading, transport, unloading |
| 2 BHK | ₹24,000 – ₹38,000 | Shared for lighter homes; dedicated for heavier homes or fixed dates | Full packing, furniture dismantling and refixing, loading, transport, unloading and placement |
| 3 BHK / 4 BHK | ₹38,000 – ₹62,000 | Usually a dedicated truck | Full packing with extra protection for wooden and glass items, dismantling and refixing, transport, unloading and placement |
| Car | ₹6,000 – ₹11,000 | Car carrier (shared) | Hatchback to sedan / compact SUV, pickup and drop, condition report at both ends |
| Bike / scooter | ₹3,000 – ₹5,500 | Packed and loaded on a goods vehicle | Commuter and mid-size bikes and scooters, wrapping, loading, delivery |
| Office / few items | After survey | Shared or dedicated, by volume | Priced on actual volume, packing needs and access at both ends |
Compare the same scope. A heavy 2 BHK with a solid-wood dining set and several wardrobes can cost more than a light 3 BHK. The guide’s upper figure does not automatically reserve an exclusive vehicle. Confirm surveyed volume, mode, capacity, actual pickup/drop legs, included packing and assembly, toll inclusion, applicable GST and any chosen cover. Large SUVs, premium cars, enclosed carriers, superbikes and EVs need model-specific assessment.
Included and Additional Work to Identify
Identify whether each relevant task is included or additional, with its quantity and assessed materials, so you can compare the same scope:
- AC uninstallation in Bengaluru and reinstallation in Mangaluru (confirm any assessed refrigerant, copper pipe or stand and its cost)
- TV wall mounting, RO purifier refitting, geyser and light fittings, chimney
- Carpenter work beyond simple dismantling, such as modular wardrobes or kitchen units
- Wooden crating for glass tops, mirrors, idols, artwork or musical instruments
- Transit cover on declared value (as per the policy terms you are given)
- Long carry from truck to door, extra floors without a lift, or a smaller shuttle vehicle when the lane is too tight
- Holding of goods if the Mangaluru house is not ready, and the redelivery that follows
- GST, if it applies to your invoice, and road tolls, if not already included
Why online prices for this route look so different
If you have searched around, you will have seen figures from ₹1,200 to over ₹60,000 for "Bangalore to Mangalore". Most of that gap comes from what the number is measuring. A low advertised amount is usually a starting or base charge, sometimes for a city move or a single vehicle, not for packing and shifting a full house 350 km away. Platform and directory ranges also mix shared and dedicated moves, different home sizes and different add-ons in one band. The only fair comparison is two or three written quotes, each for your inventory, for the same date, showing the same mode and the same list of inclusions.
Shared part load vs dedicated truck
Bangalore–Mangalore is a busy corridor, so a shared load is a practical option for smaller homes. It is not right for every move, though. Here is how the two compare:
| Point | Shared / part load | Dedicated truck |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Lower, because truck space and the trip cost are shared | Higher, as the vehicle carries only your goods |
| Who else is on the truck | Other consignments, kept separately marked and packed | Only your household |
| Dispatch | When the load is ready to move; may wait for space to fill | Agree dispatch after loading and the receiving appointment |
| Delivery | A date window, as the truck may make more than one drop | Agree the planned arrival and any last-mile transfer |
| Handling | Goods may be shifted once at a loading point | Confirm direct movement and any access transfer required at either end |
| Best for | 1 RK, 1 BHK, light 2 BHK, few items, flexible dates | Full 2 BHK and above, fragile or high-value inventory, joining date pressure |
A useful rule: if you can stay with friends or family for a couple of days in Mangaluru, a shared load usually saves money. If you have to start work on a fixed date, or you are moving into an empty house with small children or elderly parents, the dedicated truck is worth the extra cost.
Does the moving date change the price?
It can. Month-end and the first few days of a month are busy because most rental agreements end around then. Weekends see more bookings from families who don't want to take leave, and the festival period (Dasara, Deepavali and Christmas) and the start of the school year are also busy on this route. Rather than counting on a fixed discount for a weekday, ask us for two quotes on two dates you can manage. You will see the real difference for your move, and you can decide.
Bangalore to Mangalore route, distance and ghat plan
By car, Bengaluru to Mangaluru is roughly a six-hour drive in decent conditions. That number is for a car, not for your household move. A loaded truck is slower on the climb and descent, it stops for driver rest, and packing, loading and unloading all take their own time at both ends.
Observed NH75 Driving Options and the Assigned Truck Route
Observed city-pin driving options were about 347 km labelled NH75, 346 km via Magadi Main Road/NH75 and 372 km via the Chikkanayakanahalli–Hassan highway/NH75. Use roughly 350–400 km for initial planning, then confirm the actual service gates, assigned goods-vehicle approach and current restrictions. A highway label alone does not establish every intervening town or a permitted heavy-vehicle diversion.
When the Ghat Approach Needs to Change
If the usual approach is restricted by rain, repair work or vehicle category, agree a currently permitted alternative with the dispatcher before loading. Ask how a changed route affects vehicle size, transfers, arrival and cost. Do not assume that every alternative suitable for a car is practical for the measured household load.
What actually decides the route and the truck
- Current road status: We check road and weather advisories close to the dispatch date, not only at booking. Ghat closures and heavy-vehicle restrictions in this region change with rain and repair work.
- The vehicle that is allowed: A restriction may apply to larger trucks and not to smaller ones. That can decide whether your goods go in one bigger vehicle or a smaller one.
- Payload and loading: On a long downhill stretch, the load has to be packed tight and tied down properly. The loading plan needs balanced weight distribution, supported fragile items and suitable restraint, without pressure on screens or unsecured loose goods.
- The receiving end: If your Mangaluru lane cannot take a big truck, we may plan a smaller vehicle from the start, or a shuttle for the last stretch.
How long does it take?
For a dedicated household vehicle, allow roughly 1–2 days after loading as a planning guide, subject to dispatch, the assigned ghat route and the actual receiving slot. Count packing and setup separately. For shared space, confirm the pickup-to-delivery window and any consolidation wait before dispatch. Weather, road restrictions and the final approach can change either plan; keep the essentials you need during that window with you.
Paperwork for a Bangalore to Mangalore move
Bengaluru and Mangaluru are both in Karnataka, so this journey does not cross a state boundary. Confirm the documents required for your actual consignment, owner and carrier; the important distinction is used personal effects versus goods needing business documentation.
- Inventory list: A numbered list of cartons and big items, which both you and our team sign at loading. The same list is used to tick off items at unloading.
- Consignment note / lorry receipt: Issued by the transporter, with the pickup and delivery addresses and the goods owner's name.
- Owner ID and address: A copy of your ID, and the Mangaluru address with a contact number of the receiver.
- Used household goods: Under GST e-way bill rules, used personal and household effects are listed among goods for which an e-way bill is not required. Keep an accurate owner declaration and numbered inventory; confirm the applicable documentation for any mixed consignment rather than treating a declaration as a substitute for every document.
- Office or new goods: Office furniture and IT equipment owned by a company, new appliances still in boxes, or stock meant for sale are treated differently. Your accounts team may need to issue a delivery challan or invoice and, depending on value, an e-way bill. Please check this with them before the moving day.
- Vehicles: Copies of the RC, insurance and PUC go with the vehicle. Transporting a vehicle between two Karnataka cities does not need an interstate NOC. Any required RC address update or other registration compliance is a separate matter to check with the relevant authority for your circumstances.
Coastal and monsoon packing for Mangaluru
Mangaluru gets heavy south-west monsoon rain, usually from June to September, and showers often carry into October. Even outside the monsoon, the air is far more humid than in Bengaluru. Good packing for this route is less about "waterproof" promises and more about keeping things dry from the start and handling the unloading sensibly.
Our packing approach for this route
- Start dry: We don't pack wet items. Clothes, bedding and cushions should be fully dry. Schedule fridge defrosting and appliance draining/drying according to manufacturer instructions before packing.
- Inner layer by finish: Polished wood, veneer, leather and painted surfaces first get a soft layer such as foam sheet, paper or blanket wrap. We don't put plastic straight onto a sensitive finish for a long trip, because trapped moisture can mark it.
- Outer layer for rain: Over the soft layer, stretch film or plastic sheeting protects against splashes and rain during loading and unloading. Mattresses and sofas get full covers.
- Screens and glass: TVs go back in their original boxes if you have them, or in thick cartons with corner support. Glass tops and mirrors get corner guards and, where needed, a crate.
- Cartons that hold up: Stronger cartons for books and kitchen items, taped well, and not overfilled so they don't split when stacked.
- Documents and electronics: Certificates, passports and property papers should travel with you, not in the truck. Laptops and hard disks also go with you if possible.
- Moisture absorbers: Use only protection compatible with the item and its manufacturer’s storage instructions. Moisture-control material, if assessed as suitable, should not touch or damage the contents and cannot replace dry packing and covered handling.
Unloading on a rainy day
Rain usually affects the last 20 metres more than the 350 km. Before the truck arrives we ask where it can stand, whether there is a covered spot such as a portico, stilt parking or a shed, and how long the walk is from there to the lift or stairs. Cartons are moved into the covered spot first and then inside. Each item is ticked off against the numbered inventory, and if anything looks wet or damaged, it is noted there and then, with photos.
After the move
Open the cartons with clothes, bedding and books within a few days rather than leaving them sealed. Let wooden furniture sit with some space from the wall, keep the windows open on dry days, and use a fan or dehumidifier if your new home has been locked for months.
Delivery across Mangaluru: what we check by locality
Mangaluru has old bungalow lanes, hilly roads, busy central streets and new high-rise societies, sometimes all within two kilometres. Rules for entry times, lift booking and deposits are set by each society or building, not by area, so we confirm these with your secretary or building manager for your address. What follows is the kind of checking each area usually needs.
| Area | Common situation | What we confirm before delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Kadri, Kadri Hills | Hilly roads, slopes at gates, older houses with steps, some narrow internal lanes | Where the truck can stop safely on a slope, gate width, steps to the door, need for a smaller vehicle |
| Bejai, Kankanady | Apartment blocks, busy roads with school, hospital and market traffic | Society entry rules, lift size and booking, parking spot, best time to avoid road congestion |
| Pandeshwar, Hampankatta, Kodialbail | Central and commercial, dense traffic, limited parking, older buildings with stairs | Any local restriction on goods vehicles for that street, a legal standing spot, stair width, carry distance |
| Mangaladevi, Attavar, Balmatta | Mix of older homes and newer apartments close to the city centre; crowds around temples on festival days | Society entry and lift arrangements, festival dates and processions, receiver availability |
| Panambur, Baikampady, Surathkal | NH66 corridor, port and industrial traffic, staff quarters and private housing | Exact gate and campus entry rules, whether it is a home or an office, receiver contact |
Kadri and Kadri Hills
Kadri is one of the older and greener parts of the city, and many roads here climb and dip. A truck that is fine on the main road may not be able to stop on a steep gate. We ask for a photo or a short video of the gate and the approach, check how many steps lead to the main door, and work out whether a smaller shuttle vehicle is needed. If you are moving into a Kadri Hills apartment, the society's rules on entry time and lift use apply.
Bejai and Kankanady
These are busy residential areas with plenty of apartment buildings, schools, hospitals and shops close by. The roads themselves are usually reachable; the real points are the society gate, where the truck can stand, and the lift. We ask for the lift's inside size and door width so we know whether your sofa or wardrobe will go in or must go up the stairs. Timing is planned around road traffic on that day.
Pandeshwar, Hampankatta and Kodialbail
This is the commercial heart of Mangaluru. Traffic is heavy, parking is tight, and many buildings are older with stairs instead of a lift. Local traffic rules on goods vehicles may apply to some streets, so we check what applies to your street on your date rather than assuming a fixed timing. Sometimes the best plan is a smaller vehicle making two trips, or the truck standing on a nearby road with a slightly longer carry.
Mangaladevi, Attavar and Balmatta
These areas are close to the centre and have both old houses and newer apartments. Around the Mangaladevi temple, festival days and Navaratri bring large crowds, so if your move falls in that period we plan the timing with that in mind. In newer societies, ask your secretary about the move-in form, lift booking and any deposit they take. These vary from building to building.
Other Mangaluru localities
We deliver across the city, including Falnir, Valencia, Jeppu, Bendoor, Urwa, Kottara, Derebail, Bikarnakatte, Nanthoor, Pumpwell, Kulshekar, Kavoor and Surathkal, as well as nearby towns such as Ullal, Bantwal and Moodbidri. The checks are the same: where the truck stands, how far the carry is, what the lift and stairs are like, and who will receive the goods.
Panambur moves: employee homes and office shifting
Panambur is best known for the New Mangalore Port, and the area around it, along with Baikampady and Surathkal, has offices, industrial units and staff housing. We often get calls from people joining work here. It helps to be clear about what kind of move it is:
- Your household goods to your home in Panambur, Kulai, Surathkal or nearby: this is a normal house shift. If the home is inside a campus or staff colony, we need the gate and entry procedure, and a receiver who can sign us in.
- Office furniture, files and IT equipment to an office in the Panambur or Baikampady area: this is an office shift, planned with your admin team, with numbered labels by department or desk.
- Port cargo, imported goods, commercial stock or heavy machinery: these are a different service altogether. A household or office quote does not include port entry, customs work, cargo handling or machinery shifting, and we don't offer those as part of this route service.
The port's official address is Panambur, Mangalore 575010, but that tells us nothing about your actual unit. Please share the exact building, gate number and receiver's name and phone number.
Office shifting from Bengaluru to Mangaluru
For small offices and branches, the work is mostly about order. We label every carton and chair by department or seat number, pack monitors and CPUs separately from their cables, and keep a list of IT equipment with serial numbers where you need it. If the office has to restart quickly, we can plan to load on a Friday evening and unload over the weekend. Server and network setup is best left to your IT team or vendor; we handle the packing and transport.
Moving back home to coastal Karnataka
When returning to a family home, newly rented flat or furnished property, decide what the destination already has before the survey. Separating the items by owner, room and final address can save avoidable handling and make the first night easier.
- Sort before you pack: If the Mangaluru house already has a fridge or cots, decide what you are selling or giving away in Bengaluru. Paying to transport duplicates 350 km rarely makes sense.
- Furnished rental? Tell us which furniture stays behind and which comes with you. We make a separate list so nothing extra gets loaded.
- Mark rooms clearly: If goods are going to two places, such as your flat and your parents' house, we label and load them separately, and note this on the quote.
- Agree the setup work in advance: Which ACs, TV, RO purifier and furniture need refitting at the new home. This is added to the quote so there is no confusion on the day.
Keep a first-night bag and a work kit with you
Even when everything goes to plan, you may not unpack fully on the first night. Keep a bag with clothes for two days, medicines, phone chargers, a few towels, bedsheets, basic toiletries, and some snacks and drinking water. If you work from home, carry your laptop, charger, headphones and a power bank yourself so you can log in the next morning.
If you can't be there on delivery day
Give us the name and number of a backup receiver, such as a relative or neighbour, along with a signed note or message authorising them to receive the goods on your behalf. They should have a copy of the inventory list to tick off items. If the house will not be ready, ask us about holding the goods before dispatch; if we can arrange it, the charges for holding and redelivery will be quoted to you separately, and the goods will need to be unloaded and loaded once more.
Car and bike transport from Bangalore to Mangalore
Confirm whether the car or bike uses a separate carrier or an agreed suitable household-goods arrangement. Its collection, handling and arrival may differ from the home shipment; agree those legs and the receiving contact separately rather than assuming both arrive together.
Car transport
For most hatchbacks, sedans and compact SUVs, car transport on this route generally falls in the ₹6,000 – ₹11,000 range on a shared car carrier. Large SUVs, premium cars and requests for an enclosed carrier are quoted after we confirm the model and availability. On pickup, we do a walk-around with you, note existing scratches and dents, take photos and record the odometer reading. The same check is done at delivery before you sign.
Bike and scooter transport
Commuter bikes and scooters usually cost ₹3,000 – ₹5,500. Bigger bikes, bikes with side boxes or crash guards, and anything that needs a crate are quoted separately. We wrap the tank, mirrors and other parts that scratch easily, and secure the bike upright so it doesn't move on the ghat.
Electric scooters and EVs
Electric vehicles are quoted after we know the model, because battery handling depends on the manufacturer's guidance and the carrier's rules. Tell us the make and model early, and check your owner's manual for what it says about transporting the vehicle and the battery.
Preparing your vehicle
- Keep copies of RC, insurance and PUC in an envelope with the vehicle; keep the originals with you.
- Follow the assigned carrier’s fuel/battery instructions and the manufacturer’s guidance; agree FASTag handling and any authorised driven collection or delivery.
- Take out personal items, documents you don't need in the vehicle, and parking passes or access cards.
- Remove loose accessories such as phone mounts, seat covers you value, and helmets, or pack them separately.
- Wash the vehicle a day before if you can, so scratches are visible during the condition check.
Furniture, AC and Appliance Setup After Mangaluru Delivery
Make the new rooms ready before unpacking everything. Measure large furniture against doorways and stair turns; keep labelled hardware with the matching inventory record. Place and assemble beds first, then wardrobes and work desks, so cartons do not block the access route.
Confirm which AC dismantling/reinstallation, TV mounting, RO reconnection, curtain or light-fitting and furniture tasks are included or additional. Technicians need the actual wall, power, water and drainage points, any building permission and assessed fittings. Book these appointments against the confirmed delivery window and follow appliance restart instructions; transport and technical installation are separate tasks to coordinate.

Transit cover and what to do if something is damaged
Good packing reduces the risk of damage, but no mover can honestly promise zero risk on a 350 km ghat route. Transit cover is optional and based on the value you declare. Before booking, ask for the policy terms in writing: what is covered, the exclusions, the deductible, and how a claim is made.
If you find damage:
- Note it on the delivery receipt or inventory list before the team leaves, even if it is only a dent on a carton.
- Take clear photos of the item and the packing it came in. Keep the packing material.
- If you find damage while unpacking later, inform us in writing with photos as soon as possible, and within the time the policy allows.
- Keep a copy of your inventory list, quote and receipt together; these are needed for any claim.
