Most people want one number first, so here are the planning ranges we use when someone calls with a rough idea of their home. Please treat them as a starting point for budgeting, not a quote. Two 2BHK homes can be very different: one has a sofa, two beds and 25 cartons, the other has a 7-seater sofa, a glass dining table, three ACs and a home office.

This is the decision most people get stuck on. Neither option is "better". It depends on your load, your dates and how much handling you are comfortable with. The main thing is to understand that pickup, dispatch and delivery are three different dates in a shared move.

Before booking a shared move, ask for three things in writing: the pickup date, the expected dispatch window and the expected receiving date. If any of these matter to your rent agreement or joining date, a dedicated truck is usually the safer plan.

Getting the vehicle ready

• Follow the assigned carrier’s fuel instructions and the manufacturer’s guidance. Agree battery/EV preparation, FASTag handling and any authorised driven collection or delivery.
• Remove helmets, toolkits you don't need, dashcams, chargers and anything loose from the boot or seat storage.
• Photograph the vehicle from all sides along with the odometer at handover. A condition note is signed at pickup.
• At delivery, check the vehicle against the condition note before signing. Any manufacturer or carrier instruction about battery, alarm or keys should be followed as given.

Roughly350–380km is an endpoint-qualified planning guide, but a different permitted goods-vehicle corridor may add distance. Confirm the actual Bengaluru gate, Kozhikode endpoint, assigned vehicle, current roads and safe approach before dispatch. A highway label alone does not establish the full road sequence or truck permission.

The roughly7–8 hours shown for a car excludes a household move’s packing, loading, driver rest, actual goods-vehicle restrictions, consolidation and receiving appointment. For a dedicated booking, plan around1–2 days after loading, with actual departure and unloading confirmed. For shared transport, allow roughly3–7 working days from pickup as a planning window and agree the consolidation/dispatch dates separately.

How we choose the vehicle and corridor

Before dispatch, the following are checked for your load, not assumed:

• Permitted vehicle and payload: the truck size and loaded weight that is allowed and sensible on the chosen corridor.
• Restraint: how heavy furniture, appliances and cartons are tied and separated so that loads don't shift on hairpin bends.
• Current restrictions: forest-stretch timings, ghat closures, diversions and any weather warnings for that day.
• Dispatch plan: when the truck leaves Bengaluru so it reaches the forest and ghat sections at a permitted and safe time.

Confirm current forest-stretch permissions, hill-road conditions, weather alerts and any restrictions for the actual vehicle and date. If another corridor is required, agree the revised distance, running plan and delivery window. Assess dimensions and payload, compatible support, restraint and safe handling rather than selecting a truck only from a BHK label.

Receiving your goods in Kozhikode

Delivery in Calicut goes smoothly when the unloading crew knows exactly where they are going. Please don't just give "Thondayad" or "near Medical College". Share the house or flat number, building name, street, a Google Maps pin, the floor, whether there is a lift, the gate or security desk details and the name and number of the person receiving.

Nadakkavu, West Hill and Eranhipalam homes

Many homes in these older city areas are independent houses or smaller buildings on residential streets. The questions that matter: can a truck reach the gate, or will goods be carried from the main road? Are there steps at the entrance or a narrow staircase inside? Is there covered space at the door where cartons can be placed if it is raining? A photo or short video of the approach road and entrance helps us plan the right crew and vehicle.

Thondayad and Palazhi apartments

These areas have many apartment complexes. Check with your association or security in advance about lift size and booking, whether moving goods is allowed only at certain times, where the truck can stand, and whether any letter or ID is needed at the gate. Rules differ from building to building, so the building's own answer is what we follow.

Kuttikkattoor, Mukkam side and outer towns

Addresses towards Kuttikkattoor, Kunnamangalam and Mukkam, and towns such as Feroke, Ramanattukara, Koyilandy and Vadakara, are quoted as their own delivery points, not as "Kozhikode city". Distance from the main road, the last stretch to the house and the receiver's availability all count. If you are not sure of the exact locality, share the pin and we'll work it out.

PT Usha Road, Ashokapuram and Chalappuram addresses

For these existing delivery enquiries, send the exact building and gate, entrance steps, floor, usable lift or stair measurements, stopping point and carry distance. Identify any antique or heavy furniture before survey, and agree a safe receiving slot with the building contact; do not assume one rule applies across a locality.

NIT Calicut student luggage

A common mistake is to book delivery "to Calicut" when the student is actually staying on campus. NIT Calicut is at NIT Campus P.O., Calicut Mukkam Road, Kattangal, Kozhikode, Kerala 673601. It is a fair distance from the beach side and from Kozhikode railway station, so a city drop and a campus drop are different jobs.

When booking, please share:

• Whether the delivery is to a hostel, a staff quarter or a PG or rented room outside campus
• The hall or block name, room or quarter number
• The receiver's name and phone number, and a second contact if the student may be in class
• Any entry, gate pass or timing instructions given by the institute or hostel office (we don't assume fixed campus procedures)
• The full item list: cartons, trunk, cycle, mattress, small fridge, two-wheeler

A student's few cartons and a cycle are priced on that list, usually as shared part load. A faculty or staff family moving into campus quarters is a household move and is quoted like one.

Packing for Kozhikode's coastal rain

Bengaluru is fairly dry most of the year; Kozhikode gets heavy monsoon rain and stays humid. Packing cannot change the weather, but a few habits make a real difference:

• Dry before you wrap. Defrost and dry the fridge, drain and dry the washing machine, and pack only dry mattresses, curtains and clothes. Wrapping anything damp traps moisture for the whole journey.
• Right material for the finish. Polished wood, veneer, leatherette and glass each need wrapping that won't stick or mark the surface. Protect TV/monitor screens from pressure and follow the manufacturer’s packing and orientation instructions.
• Proper restraint. Assess the load’s safe weight distribution, support, restraint points and separation. Restrain furniture and cartons appropriately without pressure on screens, glass or finished surfaces.
• Covered unloading. If it is raining at delivery, goods are unloaded where there is cover, even if it takes a little longer. Tell us about a car porch, sit-out or stilt parking we can use.
• Dry staging. Keep one dry room or corner ready where cartons can be stacked off the floor until you unpack.

Take condition photographs and match numbered packages at loading, any transfer and final handover. Identify sensitive finishes or electronics before packing; follow manufacturer storage/preparation instructions and agree appropriate screen, corner and surface protection. Keep covered unloading and dry staging in the receiving plan.

Returning to Calicut or moving into a furnished rental

Many families moving from Bangalore are going back to a family home in Kozhikode, or moving into a house that already has furniture. In both cases you may not need to carry everything. Before the survey, walk through the destination with a list: which beds, almirahs, fridges and dining tables are already there? Compare the measured items with what the destination already provides, and weigh condition, replacement value and the moving estimate before deciding what to send.

• First-night box: keep bedsheets, towels, a few utensils, medicines, phone chargers, important documents and the work laptop with you, not in the truck.
• Possession mismatch: if the new house or flat may not be ready on the delivery date, tell us early. Holding the goods and redelivering later is optional and quoted separately.
• Backup receiver: name a relative or neighbour in Kozhikode who can receive and sign if you are still travelling.

Office shifting from Bengaluru to Kozhikode

For a Kozhikode office or a delivery labelled Cyberpark, share the actual tenant, building, floor and receiving bay with the facility contact. List company assets separately from personal effects even when combined transport is accepted. Before packing, the coordinator should confirm:

Unloading, reassembly and technicians

Bed and wardrobe reassembly is usually part of the job if it is in your quote. Pets and plants

Pets are never carried with household cargo. If you need your dog or cat moved to Kozhikode, tell us at the survey; it is assessed separately and usually needs a specialist pet transport provider and your vet's advice. A few hardy potted plants can sometimes travel with the goods if accepted at the survey, packed upright and kept accessible, but we can't promise how a plant will handle the journey or the change in climate.
